Svenfan1234 04-13-2016, 01:05 PM X = The extra mysterious double sliding doors to Barbara's bedroom. Lame, I know, but what else can you do? Bonniegirl 04-13-2016, 01:10 PM X = The extra mysterious double sliding doors to Barbara's bedroom. Lame, I know, but what else can you do? That's OK ! I'll add a lame Y answer to that! :D Y- Yucky- The food at the diner Julie worked at was probably yucky! :p Svenfan1234 04-13-2016, 01:12 PM Z = Zippers -- that time when Barbara faked being sick not to hurt Bob's or Cliff's feelings, Schneider was busy zipping up Julie's zipper! Bonniegirl 04-13-2016, 01:16 PM A- Annie Horvath - The baby that didn't look at all like Julie or Max! LOL!:D (She is in Julie's tummy in my avatar picture) :D Svenfan1234 04-13-2016, 01:16 PM B = Barbara Cooper! Bonniegirl 04-13-2016, 01:18 PM C- Catty - How the relationship between Francine and Ann was a lot of times! Svenfan1234 04-13-2016, 01:26 PM D = David -- in Season 1 and into Season 2! opus 04-13-2016, 01:43 PM E- Elton John, Barbie's favorite singer. At least till Mr. Hot for Teacher came strutting along. Anna Karenina 04-13-2016, 02:17 PM Fourteen Barbara's age when the show first started. Picture Alex and Barbara at the same age, wouldn't they have been cute together? Bonniegirl 04-13-2016, 02:24 PM Fourteen Barbara's age when the show first started. Picture Alex and Barbara at the same age, wouldn't they have been cute together? Yeah!:) I always thought he would have been better casted as a cousin or some relative of Ann's. On her Dad's side! Being that Glenn was really Italian. He looked like his last name would be Romano! ;) I didn't like the Nick / Ann relationship storyline at all! :p G- Golfing. What Mark did on his wedding day that outraged Babs! Well the poor guy couldn't just sit off in the corner and count his toes waiting for the wedding could he? :D Anna Karenina 04-13-2016, 02:38 PM The problem with Nick was that he could be very self righteous and pompous as in the episode where he kept labeling his son a "goof off" and then didn't give him any help in his project, unlike Schneider who perhaps did way too much but at least did more than criticize him. I think GS said VB discovered him and that he thought he looked like he could be her brother. Or something like that. Hobo that Julie tried to rehabilitate! Does anybody even use that word anymore? opus 04-13-2016, 02:41 PM I- IMDb.com., where people also post about One Day at a Time , only without the benefit of my wisdom Anna Karenina 04-13-2016, 03:52 PM Jeannie the love of Schneider's life for two episodes. She was very odd to say the least. How come we never discuss her on this board? She and her Stevie Nicks hairdo, LOL.:) Pat Harrington Jr. co wrote that episode along with several others. Best moment of the episode was when Dwayne did his chimp impression. Schneider and his boiler room got lots of action but nobody stayed too long. They should have let him have a girlfriend of another race, the show was extremely non diverse given Norman "Leer" and his supposed social justice warrior stamp. I can't believe that outside of Barbara and Mark's mixed up wedding cake topper, they never thought to have an interracial couple on this show. IMDB analyzes the show pretty well, opus, but its not the same without you! Bonniegirl 04-13-2016, 05:05 PM The problem with Nick was that he could be very self righteous and pompous as in the episode where he kept labeling his son a "goof off" and then didn't give him any help in his project, unlike Schneider who perhaps did way too much but at least did more than criticize him. But isn't as much fun as we have here. I tend to stay more conservative (less nutty) over there than I am here!:D And of course no Opus! Also the posts over there are few and far between sometimes! Kimono - Babs wore a Kimono at school in the ep. where other students thought she was a tattletale! :D opus 04-13-2016, 05:14 PM IMDB analyzes the show pretty well Some good points do come up there from time to time, but I'm happy to just sit back and read. opus 04-13-2016, 05:16 PM I tend to stay more conservative (less nutty) over there than I am here You have had your moments though. Bonniegirl 04-13-2016, 10:03 PM Here's the best I could do with the pink nightshirt ! This is from "November song" the ep. Anna was just posting about, where Schneider dates the younger woman!! https://i.ytimg.com/vi/zf1z1zPrFU4/hqdefault.jpg Anna Karenina 04-13-2016, 10:31 PM Damn, Bonniegirl!:) I am not gay (not that there's anything wrong with that) but I turn into opus for a minute or two when I see Barbara in that nightshirt. Very attractive lady, I felt bad for Mack when Valerie started to blossom into womanhood and became so front and center on the show. It must have been quite humbling. Bonniegirl 04-14-2016, 12:28 AM Q- Quite the beauty Babs was ! He was happy that he got the garage for his truck because Julie and Max got the bigger bedroom in the house they rented together. Svenfan1234 04-14-2016, 12:58 PM U = Unannounced -- Schneider would always come in unannounced and hardly ever knock! opus 04-14-2016, 01:20 PM V-Vodka- 15 yr old Barbie's drink of choice Svenfan1234 04-14-2016, 01:25 PM W = Willing -- Julie was willing to run away with Chuck (btw I didn't see part 1 and I didn't see most of part 2 yesterday. Did Chuck force Julie to run away or was Julie's temper set off like always and she just did?) Bonniegirl 04-14-2016, 01:33 PM V-Vodka- 15 yr old Barbie's drink of choice Besides beer, Vodka and orange juice was the first alcoholic drink I ever drank! I think a lot of young people! The vodka not tasting strong like other alcohol, and easy access to orange juice from the family refrigerator! ;) :D Than I moved on to vodka and pineapple juice, which I actually still really like to this day! ;) Bonniegirl 04-14-2016, 01:51 PM W = Willing -- Julie was willing to run away with Chuck (btw I didn't see part 1 and I didn't see most of part 2 yesterday. Did Chuck force Julie to run away or was Julie's temper set off like always and she just did?) No ,it was mutual agreement, mainly because Ann didn't want Julie to see Chuck anymore! X- X-cited - The girls were excited at the thought of moving to California when David got a new job there and wanted to marry Ann and move them all out there! ;) opus 04-14-2016, 02:23 PM Vodka and orange juice was the first alcoholic drink I ever drank! Me too. I've never been a drinker, to this day (no, not even beer), and if I ever "had" to have something, it was always a screwdriver. Anna Karenina 04-14-2016, 02:39 PM Yogurt. Ann had one of her biggest meltdowns over the Kenton Yo Gurt! guy. She must have had a lot of clients to act that way around him. Francine was essential in that company, she knew how to schmooze a client!:) P.S. I also have never been much of a drinker, I have an addictive personality, anyway so I didn't want to risk the chance of being addicted to booze. I quit cigarettes 25 years ago because I was getting to like them too much! also Y for another Seinfeld reference. Yada, Yada, Yada.:D Bonniegirl 04-14-2016, 03:17 PM Yogurt. Bonniegirl 04-14-2016, 05:21 PM Bunny Did you all think she was supposed to be a prostitute or just a good time girl who liked to "date" her leftovers?;) I had to google Bunny to see who you meant! Oh yeah Bunny , Julie's roommate ! Well yes and no! I mean I'm sure she didn't think of herself as a prostitute per se , but she "dated for dinner" and to help get bills paid. So yes, technically she was right? Women who receive money, meals or gifts from various men in exchange for "dates" which I'm sure consisted of more than a little goodnight kiss!!! ;) and only for that reason and not because they really like the guy and enjoy his company ! :D Svenfan1234 04-14-2016, 06:03 PM E=Easy to anger- Julie and Barbara Bonniegirl 04-14-2016, 06:09 PM F- Ford, President Ford on a visit to Indianapolis ! Hey, Uh...Look... Mom, this is the way I feel about such and such... Am I the only one who notices this? Same thing with on Everybody Loves Raymond. Also Chuck's wallet got ripped off by a wino who apparently staggered upstairs with it, and Chuck didn't bother to go after him! LOL!!  opus 04-15-2016, 02:46 PM P-Pot , of which California has more lenient laws about, according to Barbara. At least that's what she heard from Julie. Anna Karenina 04-15-2016, 02:59 PM Julie left the show for good after having another quarter life crisis. I had to go into the Urban Dictionary to find a good Q word to use.:) Bonniegirl 04-15-2016, 03:03 PM R- Rope -Jumping rope. According to Schneider if Ann jumped rope it would take her mind off of Julie being gone and help her to sleep! opus 04-15-2016, 03:21 PM I had to go into the Urban Dictionary to find a good Q word to use.:) I personally find Q, X, and Z the most fun to come up with something.:) opus 04-15-2016, 03:26 PM S-Soccer balls. 30% off at Barbara's store. According to Schneider if Ann jumped rope it would take her mind off of Julie being gone and help her to sleep! I must say I was impressed by the jump rope scene, they both had backgrounds in dance and vaudeville, respectively and it showed with their athleticism. I wonder why Bonnie F. never went back to Broadway, she was very talented. (ETA, I guess it was Pat Sr. who was the vaudevillian.):) Bonniegirl 04-15-2016, 04:04 PM I personally find Q, X, and Z the most fun to come up with something.:) Wouldn't our grade school teachers be proud of us using our imaginations and coming up with all these good A-Z answers! ;) :D Anna Karenina 04-15-2016, 04:22 PM David's rating of Ann as a lover! Bonniegirl 04-15-2016, 04:34 PM U- USSR - Schneider fell in love with a very tall woman from the former Soviet Union! opus 04-15-2016, 05:07 PM V- Doubling up the Vans- the previously mentioned Johnson, and Chucks stolen one Bonniegirl 04-15-2016, 05:24 PM W- Washing dishes- When Max and Julie moved in to "Shorty's" apartment ,she and Max clashed as to how the dishes should be washed and stacked, right to left or left to right! opus 04-15-2016, 05:34 PM X- Xena, Warrior Princess. Ann could take her in a fight. Anna Karenina 04-15-2016, 05:37 PM EXit, David's. What the heck did David see in Ann anyway? Except for ironing his shorts, what did she do but emasculate him? I love how Richard Masur fought to give his character some balls, for want of a better word but realized that it would never happen and left the show. I would have LOVED it if it was David who had gotten the line, "Its over, we both know it and it has been for a very long time." But of course even in the end Ann/Bonnie F. had to call all the shots. I kept saying throughout the show's airing, "I'll have your babies, David!" LOL.:D I would have loved an attentive and protective David or an Ed in my life. Oh, well. Different Strokes, Different Folks. Only Sam seemed to be able to put up with her mood swings and ball busting. If I were a man I wouldn't put up with a woman like Ann who seems to find an argument around every corner. No wonder Julie was such a mess, LOL. (P.S.Ironically by the end of the show, Ann told Sam she wanted to be protected and coddled and have somebody fix her winch or woosh or whatever it was. He didn't want any part of that after being married to "clingy" Marge);) Anna Karenina 04-15-2016, 05:39 PM X- Xena, Warrior Princess. Ann could take her in a fight. Sorry, opus. Maybe she was wild in bed, and that was her charm with men! Because it certainly wouldn't be her "charm" outside the bedroom and she wasn't great looking, she had her moments, maybe a little cute at best, but she certainly wasn't pretty enough to bowl a man over with her beauty or for a man to put up with her moods, temper and ball busting. So I'm thinking it all had to do with the bedroom? ;) :happyface :D I know ne too, I was thinking the same thing about David. What a sweet guy, a good guy!;) Very kind, a good protector, good provider. A catch! I thought David, don't be dumb, find a woman that really loves you, and wants to have your children! (wouldn't he make a great Father)? You can do better than Ann! ;) Perhaps you are right, Bonnie G. Generally speaking she seemed quite libidinous with each lover of the week. But with David Kane for example, he was falling all over himself and making a fool of himself for Ann before the consummation so what else could he be so fascinated by her with? Maybe he enjoyed the chase? Maybe he liked being yelled at? With all of her many other lovers, they didn't have to wait nearly 2 years to get to the finish line. She seemed to give it up so to speak before the first commercial.;) I am just gonna slut shame her and Schneider as well. They were both kind of promiscuous. There I said it. Please everybody, don't judge me for judging others!:D I still have affection for Ann despite her mistreatment of David and many other crimes of humanity, I finally changed my avatar in tribute of M.S. Romano and her spunky daughters! I hope Lucy's not mad at me. She's been rocking my avatar for ten straight years. She will always be my original Ball buster.:) Bonniegirl 04-15-2016, 07:16 PM Perhaps you are right, Bonnie F. Generally speaking she seemed quite libidinous with each lover of the week. She hopped in bed right away with the 'Maestro" ! That ep is coming up, thinking that might be her first after David? I can't blame her for that though. I think I might be tempted to hop in bed with that handsome David Dukes on the first date too!!! He's seductive with those sexy eyes of his!!!! ;) I didn't like him violating Edith Bunker though!!! :( He was the actor that played the attempted rapist in an ep of All in the family! :( Anna Karenina 04-15-2016, 07:28 PM David Dukes was so creepy as Edith's would be rapist but boy when he played consensual, he WAS hot. They were extremely passionate in that episode. I remember on the reunion show how Valerie was saying that BF loved kissing all her boyfriends on the show and BF replying with a slight look of disgust, "Not all of them.":( Okay. Blind Gossip time. Who was she talking about? My guess??? Ron Rifkin! They seemed to have an anti chemistry. She had more chemistry with the indignant, younger assistant she harassed. Who do you all think she was referring to? The comedian? The married lover? The "Greek" college professor? David? Who? I don't think it was Sam because otherwise he would never have gotten husband status on the show. Bonniegirl 04-15-2016, 08:24 PM Oh definitely she wasn't referring to David Dukes! I'll say him right off the bat!!! Bonnie F is a fairly decent actress, but she didn't LOOK like she was acting during the love scenes with him!! She looked like she really wanted "IT', him right than and there. A lot of people say that was a boring ep. I thought it was good!! The ep in general maybe wasn't great , but David Dukes made my heart go pitter- patter, and I think Bonnie F.'s too!!!! Oh Max, please forgive me for cheating on you!!! LOL!!! Do you think Michael Lembeck is reading this and seething with jealousy ? ROFL!!!! Not that it was a love scene, but I'm sure she enjoyed the flirting and dancing scenes with the cute Robby Benson!!! I think it was strange how happy Julie was to be pregnant when her marriage was in tatters. She probably did do it on purpose to keep Max around. Also how cruel was it of her to rub the affair in Max's face? Doris Roberts needed to come on the show and slap the crap out of her for that. Than when they ran up credit cards and he was kind of job hopping and not that steady that was exciting too! When they moved in the house, and Max was doing very well at the travel agency, and settling in to be a good man, husband and Father. To Julie that was BORING and she stirred up DRAMA and fights ! They probably had very hot "makeup sex'! C=Catherine Romano You know, Sven, Francine had a fiance for a minute that kind of describes your prototype for Ann's brother. He was also very successful and accomplished and that drove Ann crazy with jealousy. They should have that have that same kind of set up for Ann with a brother who her mother idolized which in turn drove Ann up the wall and caused conflict. Let's face it Ann was coddled so much that she had to find independence anywhere she could! Until the time came when she was married to laconic Sam who was strictly anti coddling.
