Yeah!:) I always thought he would have been better casted as a cousin or some relative of Ann's. On her Dad's side! Being that Glenn was really Italian. He looked like his last name would be Romano! ;) I didn't like the Nick / Ann relationship storyline at all! :p

What the heck did David see in Ann anyway? Except for ironing his shorts, what did she do but emasculate him? I love how Richard Masur fought to give his character some balls, for want of a better word but realized that it would never happen and left the show.


I would have LOVED it if it was David who had gotten the line, "Its over, we both know it and it has been for a very long time." But of course even in the end Ann/Bonnie F. had to call all the shots.

As I opined before, Eve Plumb was very appealing as a child/teen actress but in most of her later parts and interviews she comes off as very reserved and bitter. Even when she played Jan Brady again in the reunion movies and shows.

Her personality fit her well though when she played Blair's nun sister, she did better in that role perhaps because it was more well rounded and serious and she got to say "lesbian".:D I remember being a sheltered young girl at the time and the audience was SHOCKED to hear that term. You could hear a gasp! Now nobody, much less myself would even bat an eye.:eek:

She was in the live revival of Grease recently as a mechanic and lightened up a little and was fun to watch again.

I didn't really see it that way. Yes, there were no scenes like that, and yes, she decided to move 4000 miles away, but I thought there was enough there. In 'Sisters' (I coco gurled it on YouTube to double check the dialog), Ann says "I'm a grandmother now. I have a new role. So I'm going to go home and start spoiling my grandchild"

Still I thought I thought it would have been better to actually show rather than offhandedly refer to Ann in a grandmotherly capacity. Maybe everybody is busy one day including Katherine and Sam and Ann have to take care of the baby and comic hijinks ensue. Maybe not.;)

The worst Sam/Ann episode was when he went away on business with an old girlfriend and Ann got jealous and some guy came in looking for the business partner and oh well it was just to lame and boring to describe accurately. We could have lost that one and the smoking one which while certainly informative was too preachy/teachy and not terribly entertaining, IMO. It had its moments though.

I thought she looked cute in the Runaways eps. Her hair looked nice and healthy, and she looked a good weight. Not too skinny. She actually had a nice figure, she had some meat on her butt! In a total non lesbian way , I thought wow, Julie has a nice butt when she's not overly druggy and skinny looking ! And also when they thought they were moving to California with David, Julie looked really cute in that little summer top! Her bare arms didn't look real skinny. When she announced she was pregnant ,I think it was Barbara that asked her in so many words, if the baby was Max's. That's when Julie said it was a while ago. I guess she had gotten her "monthly" after the affair was over.

But yeah like you said, Julie might have gotten it (times and dates) mixed up. Esp.if she was indeed bi-polar! Max was quick to forgive her and she told him about the baby at the end of the show , and she said it like "I'm having a baby ,YOUR baby". That's how the show ended. It never showed if he questioned or it entered his mind it might be the other guys! And not to mention Annie looks nothing like him, nor like her either! (She looks like Chuck or Fred)!! But than genetics can be like that. She took after her maternal Grandmother and Great grandmother!

Wow , how messed up would it be if Annie really wasn't Max's child, and Julie abandoned her husband and her baby with a man that wasn't even really her Father!!! Down the line, Annie has a major medical condition and needs a blood relative as a kidney donor or something, and tests are run, and MAX is found to NOT be biologically related to her! OMG!!! Well at that point Max would feel as if she was his biological daughter and Max would be the only Father she ever knew!!! But WHOA!!!

As for Julie being jealous of the pretty flight attendants, no that isn't a pass to cheat on him, having no proof that he was fooling around with any of them. She was insecure and convinced if he hadn't already he soon would! She needed to work on herself, be the best she could be. Try to keep her man but in a mentally healthy, positive way . Get some therapy , get on some medication because at that point she was probably driving Max away!!

Which leads me to the theory of that it was indeed Max's baby , and maybe she purposely got pregnant ! "Conveniently" was forgetting to take the pill, thinking with her insecurities that a baby would keep Max around and not cheating ! And that is why what ended up happening did. Julie really didn't want a baby, she used the baby as a pawn to keep her crumbling marriage together! Which really wasn't crumbling before Julie got all mental, accused him of cheating ,cheated on him, picked fights all the time, etc. !

I was thinking the same thing, BG. Doris would have been PERFECT as Max's disapproving mother. How about his father Harvey as his TV dad? He died in 1982 but still that would have been a fun combo.

Yeah! I thought that right off the bat! The way Julie was making it sound like the affair just started recently! When she announced she was pregnant ,I think it was Barbara that asked her in so many words, if the baby was Max's. That's when Julie said it was a while ago. I guess she had gotten her "monthly" after the affair was over.

But yeah like you said, Julie might have gotten it (times and dates) mixed up. Esp.if she was indeed bi-polar! Max was quick to forgive her and she told him about the baby at the end of the show , and she said it like "I'm having a baby ,YOUR baby". That's how the show ended. It never showed if he questioned or it entered his mind it might be the other guys! And not to mention Annie looks nothing like him, nor like her either! (She looks like Chuck or Fred)!! But than genetics can be like that. She took after her maternal Grandmother and Great grandmother!

Wow , how messed up would it be if Annie really wasn't Max's child, and Julie abandoned her husband and her baby with a man that wasn't even really her Father!!! Down the line, Annie has a major medical condition and needs a blood relative as a kidney donor or something, and tests are run, and MAX is found to NOT be biologically related to her! OMG!!! Well at that point Max would feel as if she was his biological daughter and Max would be the only Father she ever knew!!! But WHOA!!!

As for Julie being jealous of the pretty flight attendants, no that isn't a pass to cheat on him, having no proof that he was fooling around with any of them. She was insecure and convinced if he hadn't already he soon would! She needed to work on herself, be the best she could be. Try to keep her man but in a mentally healthy, positive way . Get some therapy , get on some medication because at that point she was probably driving Max away!!

Which leads me to the theory of that it was indeed Max's baby , and maybe she purposely got pregnant ! "Conveniently" was forgetting to take the pill, thinking with her insecurities that a baby would keep Max around and not cheating ! And that is why what ended up happening did. Julie really didn't want a baby, she used the baby as a pawn to keep her crumbling marriage together! Which really wasn't crumbling before Julie got all mental, accused him of cheating ,cheated on him, picked fights all the time, etc. !

Fabulous post, Bonnie. I think it was strange how happy Julie was to be pregnant when her marriage was in tatters. She probably did do it on purpose to keep Max around.

Also how cruel was it of her to rub the affair in Max's face? Doris Roberts needed to come on the show and slap the crap out of her for that. Ann tried her best to get her to shape up but somewhere along the way she weakened and took Julie's side in everything except for that ridiculous underwater birth stuff.

We would have made awesome casting directors, BG. They should have brought Helaine Lembeck on, I remember her from Welcome Back Kotter, she was very funny. She would also have torn Julie a new one.

I would have loved it if they fleshed out the Horvaths and imported them from Texas. They could have mined a lot of comedy from Max's unseen clan.

In addition to whining and yelling, Ann and her equally dramtic daughter Julie did their fair share of yelping.

A shame we aren't on D!!! DRAMA!!! In one word in a nutshell Julie LOVED DRAMA!!! She created problems! Seemed only happy in unusual situations. Like first getting with Max, because they got together under weird circumstances! Than when they ran up credit cards and he was kind of job hopping and not that steady that was exciting too! When they moved in the house, and Max was doing very well at the travel agency, and settling in to be a good man, husband and Father. To Julie that was BORING and she stirred up DRAMA and fights ! They probably had very hot "makeup sex'! Like after a long drawn out fight the sex was really good! :happyface ;) But I'm thinking even that was getting tiring to Max, and he wished he could just have a normal wife and have good sex without having to have all the fighting and drama too. (He was seeing the relationship Mark and Barbara had) Julie sensed this and moved on, probably ending up in another crazy drama filled relationship with a man in Chicago! :confused: ;)

You know, Sven, Francine had a fiance for a minute that kind of describes your prototype for Ann's brother. He was also very successful and accomplished and that drove Ann crazy with jealousy.

They should have that have that same kind of set up for Ann with a brother who her mother idolized which in turn drove Ann up the wall and caused conflict.

Let's face it Ann was coddled so much that she had to find independence anywhere she could! Until the time came when she was married to laconic Sam who was strictly anti coddling. (because of Mark's mother Marge who apparently was very clingy, although I didn't think she was all that bad, really) Which of course really bugged her when she didn't get coddled or as she put it "babied".

Wes Stern guest starred in lots of stuff inthe70's! More early 70's than late. He also was in a sitcom with Bobby Sherman that only lasted one season! It was a spinoff from the Partridge family called "Getting Together"! My Sister LOVED Bobby Sherman , I thought Wes was cuter! And of course I had a big crush on Keith Partridge!

Wes also played one of Brenda Morgenstern's boyfriends on Rhoda. But they played his looks down, he wore glasses and was supposed to be really nerdy! I think he was Lenny? Or Benny?

Yeah! And this Lenny was the total opposite of Nick Lobo ! Nick fancied him self as a ladies man, and was very conceited, and Lenny was painfully shy! I think he and Brenda were supposed to be distant cousins even or something or their mothers were best friends. And it was a fix up on the Mother's part. And Brenda wasn't to into him really, but he adored her. From what I remember? Something like that! Like I said they played him down and made him so shy, like scary, nerdy, shy. He was WAY cuter and cooler in everything else I ever saw him in! ;) I think he would be good as Max's brother! ;)
