Amazing and sadly NO, in 12 seasons, an incredible family sitcom didn't have a single Christmas themed episode, they mentioned several times in numerous episodes about "This is the tie I got for Christmas", but nothing past that. Oddly in it's first season they had a Thanksgiving episode. I think it was producer Don Fedderson, who also did the classic "Family Affair" which also didn't have a proper Christmas episode, but did have an episode about a little girl dying months before the holiday (played by Eve Plumb), so they gave her a early Christmas. But the episode was not aired in December. Sometimes in those days, creators/writers felt holiday themed episodes would not play well in syndication, as was in the case of the not syndicated "I Love Lucy Christmas episode" and still is not part of the "I Love Lucy" syndication package. Another theory was not offending viewers of different faiths. tlc38tlc38 06-20-2015, 09:13 AM Yeah, it is sad that in 12 years they didn't do a single Christmas themed episode. "Murder, She Wrote" also ran for 12 years but they did do one episode in their 9th season called "A Christmas Secret". faraj 11-11-2017, 04:18 AM Leave It To Beaver didn't have a Christmas episode either. TV Guy 11-11-2017, 07:54 AM Leave It To Beaver didn't have a Christmas episode either. That’s because the Cleavers were atheists. faraj 11-12-2017, 01:17 AM That’s because the Cleavers were atheists. They are? No way. FYI, God was mentioned once in an ep, Beaver's Bad Day. PhoenixAcres 11-12-2017, 09:40 PM That’s because the Cleavers were atheists. The Cleavers are not atheists. On several occasions they are implied to be religious, likely some denomination of Christianity. faraj 11-13-2017, 02:28 AM The Cleavers are not atheists. LOL! paul.austin 11-16-2017, 01:39 PM Allo Allo's Christmas episode is part of the ongoing storyline but is often only shown in December by local stations. biffbronson 11-18-2017, 10:03 AM For many sitcoms, Christmas episodes are written to revolve around a specific gift. But, with some notable exceptions, gift-giving is seldom part of M3S storylines -- like when Steve buys Chip a vintage car for his birthday, or when Katie wants to buy Rob a watch for their brief anniversary, or Steve buying a pair of golf shoes for Barbara. |
