In the episode A Black Day for Mayberry when Andy finds out Gomer heard about the gold truck from Laura Lee Hobbes, Andy tells Barney. "Somewhere between here and Denver is a gold truck and you and me and Gomer and Laura Lee Hobbes, we're going to be here to meet it." However, when the Gold Truck does arrive, Laura Lee Hobbes was nowhere to be seen. I wish the writers of the episode had included her because the writers could have done one of the classic scenes of Barney swearing in two naive people to be deputies ala High Noon in Mayberry and Goodbye Sheriff Taylor, with the added bonus of Barney getting distracted by how pretty Laura Lee looks.

Good question.
Maybe the writers',etc. decided that not only were they not able to come up for dialogue for the character but it might be more fun to leave to the audience's imagination re Miss Hobbes's looks and personality by not actually having her depicted after the build up given for her.
