John Stamos has entered rehab, PEOPLE confirms exclusively.

The actor has checked himself into a residential program for the treatment of substance abuse.

Last month, the 51-year-old star was charged with a DUI, after which he was briefly hospitalized for an unknown medical condition.

Following the incident, the beloved actor Tweeted to his fans: "Thanks to everyone for their love & support. I'm home & well."

Stamos will star in a Netflix reboot of Full House, titled Fuller House, and his new Fox sitcom, Grandfathered, premieres this fall.

1. Given how squeaky clean his record was, this does sort of shock me. Definitely something out of character.

2. At 51 years old, he's way too old for this crap.

Happy to hear he's feeling better and cleaned.

I am guessing that losing his mom is what made him go down this road, I pray that he is able to get cleaned up. :) :) :)

I was sorry to hear that he'd lost his mom because I know they were close but when I read about his DUI, my respect for him went downhill fast.
