Anyone here remember an old TV talk show called "Amazing Discoveries?"

If not, here's the inside scoop on the underrated pioneer and its host/creator, Mike Levey.

"Amazing Discoveries" was a TV talk show (often seen late at night on various local and cable stations) hosted and created by Mike Levey.

A spin-off talk show, "Ask Mike," debuted in 1993 and aired until 1998.

On "Amazing Discoveries," Mike Levey presented various guests (including frequent guest Ian Long, Kim Komando and fitness guru Jack LaLanne) who had their products presented on the show, among them the Magic Wand, Sudden Youth Beauty Creme, and the Juice Tiger.

Michael Stephen Levey was born on May 28, 1948 in Los Angeles, California and was an electrical engineer before creating "Amazing Discoveries." After a brief illness, Mike Levey died on August 2, 2003 at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California at age 55, survived by wife Lisa, sons Jake & Steve, daughter Jennifer, and grandsons Ryan and Ethan.

Per his Wikipedia entry, while an electrical engineer in the '70s, Mike Levey also founded a Dial-a-Joke service called The Mainline.

Personally, I was a HUGE fan as a 7-year-old of "Amazing Discoveries" and tuned in faithfully EVERY time it came on at that age, even if that meant getting up in the wee hours of the morning to do so.

Attached to this photo is a picture of Mike Levey with "Amazing Discoveries" producer J. Hovan Pulitzer (Mike is the guy on the left with the sweater) along with a photo gallery of Mike Levey in his memory.

Amazing discoveries was a series of infomercials, not a talk show.
