View Full Version : My Dunkin Donuts Dilemma
Zoneboy 06-04-2015, 12:56 AM Earlier today I went grocery shopping and when I was leaving I noticed a large plastic bag sitting in a empty parking space. It was windy and wasn't moving so I knew something had to be in it The curiosity got the better of me so I got out of the car and saw that it was from Dunkin Donuts. Inside were 4 dozen of different varieties and a stack of napkins. The donuts were fresh and were not there when I went into the store. The only thing I can figure is that the person who bought them probably didn't want groceries mashing the boxes so they set them down, loaded the car then drove off and forgot them. I called the local DD, described what I'd found and was told they didn't come from that store and they were certain because one box was Chips Ahoy and are not available there. I called a few other stores and still no luck. I also called the grocery store and was told that nobody had called or came in asking about them. I checked and there's 50 DD stores within a 50 mile radius of where I found them and I may call more tomorrow. All I know is that I've got 45 tempting donuts sitting in the kitchen (someone ate 3 before they got to the store) and they're out $36.00.
JamesG 06-04-2015, 02:20 AM I would just get rid of it. It's not your problem and I personally wouldn't eat anything someone just left like that.
Even if you did find the store/person it came from the food would probably be stale. Get rid of the temptation and chuck it.

That might be best, thanks. I was mainly concerned about the person that bought them being out $36.00 but you're right, it's not my problem. I have one more option that I may try tomorrow and if no luck there then they're going in the trash.
Coffeecup 06-04-2015, 11:57 AM It was nice you tried to find the owner. When reading the post, I would have eaten a few, that is if you like donuts. They are rich. I wouldn't think any thing was wrong other than someone forget about them. But posters have said, Heave them out. I can't think, someone might have, good lord ,urinate in the box, so some other horrible thing but there are kooks in the world. I just hate to waste food even if it might have been a tad stale or not the greatest food to eat. Then again, maybe the seagulls or other birds would like a meal. They are hungry too.

Great idea to feed the birds. My husband and I feed the birds at least once a week. I save stuff in a large baggie all week, then cut it up small and off the porch it goes. Our cats love to sit on the windowsill and watch them eat.
I agree, very nice of you Charles to go through the trouble of trying to find the owner. My guess is that the donuts were heading to a little gathering of sorts, after a funeral or something like that. That's a lot of donuts. LOL that three were missing.
Zoneboy 06-04-2015, 10:18 PM I never heard from anyone and I have no reason to believe that anything was wrong with the donuts. I gave 2 boxes to my girlfriend's brother and we kept the others and froze them. They couldn't have been sitting there no more than a few minutes, this was on a Wednesday which is the first day of the new sale and the store is constantly busy with people coming in and out. The parking space they were found in was one very close to the store and next to a handicap space so it wouldn't have remained empty long. We were probably loading our cars at the same time but I was only paying attention to my stuff and nobody else. Another factor was that there were no ants in the bag or boxes. If you put something sweet like donuts on the ground in the summer and leave it the ants will soon be all over it. Had there been even one ant they would've went into the trash or given to the birds as suggested. Also since it was on a Wednesday and after 6:45 when I left the store they could've been for a church group or for any reason. The boxes had not been tampered with and a large stack of napkins were sitting undisturbed on the top box. Based on all this I saw no reason to throw them out.

OK. I am totally not trying to be funny or anything. I first read your post this morning and got chills!!! I'm not kidding! I really believe there is something supernatural going on here!
I really think somebody or something has left those donuts for you for a reason! Did you have a loved one who passed that this might be? Somebody trying to contact you? Was there someone that liked donuts or something like that a lot?
Again I will say. I'm totally serious ! I'm not playing around or making fun, I'm really not. I very much believe in ghosts and spirits to the point that I am very freaked out a lot of times! How else do you explain a whole lot of donuts just sitting there all of a sudden??? And than calling around to several DD stores and not ONE of them even has a clue about it!!
Zoneboy 06-05-2015, 01:12 AM The only reason someone or something would have to send me 4 dozen donuts would be to give me a diabetic coma. I can have some sugar but I have to limit my intake as much as possible. There was nothing wrong with them and it was simply a matter of being in the right place at the right time.

I called every location within 30 miles and none had sold an order that size all day. I believe that whoever bought them was probably in a hurry when leaving the store and simply forgot. When I found them I actually thought about waiting a few minutes to see if they would come back. I didn't because I was very tired from several hours of shopping and I had ice cream in the car so I had to get home ASAP. The donuts had to have been bought for a special occasion and I have little doubt that they were intended to be used that evening. I regret that I was unable to contact the person but at least I tried.
