10. U.S.S. Prometheus
Is it a gimmicky ship? Hell yeah it is. That aside it's still pretty damn cool. Apparently Matt Trakker's great, great, great, great, great, great grand kid was a starship designer. Borg kicking your ass? Split into three ships for "multi vectored attack" mode! Still, pretty kick ass ship, and hey....it came with hologram Andy Dick. Listen it's number 10 for a reason.
9. Ferengi Marauder (D'Kora Class)
I know right? The biggest bunch a cowards in the galaxy have pretty nice ships. Now I'm not going to dig up a mess of make believe stats and schematics, it just looks neat and menacing. You know Quark would give his left lobe for his own Marauder.
8. Cardassian Galor Class Warship
The Cardassians....evil Spoon heads of the universe, they make mean warships though. The Galor class is like a big evil sting ray slowly gliding in space, and like the sting ray it has some bite to it. Its shown to be tough and a match for many Fed, and well Dominion, ships. Just so deliciously evil.
7. U.S.S. Reliant
OK, I said I used some Trek ships in my sci-fi ships list, never said they'd never show up here. The Reliant is here for the same reasons it was in the other list. Iconic, at the time a new design we'd never seen, and it almost took down the Enterprise.
6. Romulan Warbird
I've said this before, when the Warbird showed up in TNG everyone went "Klingon who?". This ship....man...just pants crapping terror inducing.
5. Jem'Hadar Attack Vessel
This ship struck dread in the crew of DS9 and the Federation as a whole. It was mainly numbers, but even alone it's not a ship to toy with.
4. U.S.S. Enterprise A
You knew it was gonna show up, but where? It's still iconic, and what you first visualize when you think Star Trek...but personally...there are others....
3. Klingon Bird of Prey
How can this be? Well, I like the old D7 cruiser from the classic show...but the Bird of Prey gave the Klingons that ship that truly gave them personality in space battles. It was the design that was the workhorse in TNG and DS9, and despite not showing up until the third movie in the original Trek series, it stands as the ship you think of when you hear "Klingon ship".
2. U.S.S. Enterprise E
I like the classic look of the A, but the TNG's cast updated starship fit the epic adventures of the crew next to their bloated saucer section D version. It was simply a movie worthy design. Now who beats the largest Enterprise?
1. U.S.S. Defiant
Why, possibly the smallest, but damn sure meanest starship (http://whatculture.com/tv/13-awesome-star-trek-ships.php) in the Federations fleet. The Defiant took down multiple enemies larger than itself, and was one of the few ships left in salvageable condition when the Borg attacked Earth. Simply put don't mess with the Defiant.
