That kind of bothers me how she was always billed last. She should have gotten Mack's place once she was fired. The new folks added later on in the series were billed before Valerie.

I am not too upset about it but I do wonder what that was about.

She got the " and" billing which was just as good.

Yes! And also maybe because she was the youngest! ;)

Yes. If you're not first, the final "and [actor] as [character]" is next best.

Right. It makes me think of Leave It to Beaver. The opening credits go like this: Leave It to Beaver . . . starring Barbara Billingsley . . . Hugh Beaumont . . . Tony Dow . . . and Jerry Mathers as the Beaver."

Jerry Mathers is the very last name, but he's obviously pretty important to the show! Without him, the title would just be Leave It to.

The two most important spots in billing of a TV show and therefore the most demanded by agents on behalf of their clients are first billing and last billing. It's often written in to actors contracts what billing they will get and I wouldn't br surprised if Valerie had a "last billing" clause in her contract.

Hmm, that's possible, but I figured she was billed last because she was the unplanned addition to the show (revealed in Mack's book). Since they brought her on late in the game maybe they thought they'd tack her on the end. Then by the time later cast changes came along, maybe she and/or her agent did like the idea of her having final billing.
