FOLN@NFan 03-25-2002, 09:07 PM i should add that i AM planning to add a "general Cheers multimedia" section with clips from the actual show (not just the theme), and one is from a rare 1984 NBC promo with everyone involved with NBC TV in some way singing "Let's all be there." and guess whos in it...Sam, Carla, and Frasier!
coming soon...with more

Samsgirl xo 03-31-2002, 02:31 AM whoa thats stupid.. i bet you sooner or later were gunna have to pay for everything online.. i have a question you did notice this right
in my channel 11 syndicated version they have the short theme, but you know how nick at nite ughh i cant explain.. wait try this.. lol
at the begging of the long theme they freeze it and turn it to the old times, where making your way in the world today.. would start to play? well they do that with the short theme and then play the Cheers logo.. on nan it doesnt do that.. please tell me you understand what im babbling about.. it is 1:30 in the morning.. spring break.. woohoo. lol
FOLN@NFan 03-31-2002, 08:34 PM ok...this is somethin i never put on my site, but i know what ur talkin about (lol ur not babblin')
On NBC, it was like they made the episode, put it all together for good, and that was that. When they made the short themes (for NBC that is), all they were, were cuts from the full NBC themes, all seasons. It was always "The car/front of melvilles/Cheers logo". it never faded to the old fashioned "Front of Melvilles" in any season. Plus, seasons 1-3 never had a short version on NBC (just keep this in mind...)
Well, for some strange reason, in Syndication (which is what your talkin about), they redid all the themes, making them all short, but they were NOT just quick cuts from the NBC themes. They had new recordings and new versions of the pictures/drawings. For seasons 1-4, they were different, but all followed the same format. "The car/front of Melvilles/OLD drawing of Melville's/fade to Cheers logo". With me so far? lol
This is because there weren't as many cast members as seasons 5-11 had, so they had to fill the time cuz w/o the old fashioned drawing, or the pictures (Ted Danson/Shelley Long/Rhea Perlman/etc) would have to be on screen a REALLY long time. its like they wanted the Syndicated themes to be really clean cut and "nicer" or somethin. (BTW Season 5 added Kelsey, so they didnt need the drawing nemore)
Why doesnt N@N do that? cuz they are showin the remastered prints of the show(but u already knew that lol). all the remastered prints are, are the original NBC airings redone nicely, so the themes are really the same as NBC would have aired them.
hope u got that! if u didnt, just say so. really, seasons 1-4 in syndication had the drawing to fill time cuz there werent as many cast members as later seasons.
Doug
BTW...2 more days of my spring break/easter vacation/whatever. lol and happy Easter!
Samsgirl xo 04-01-2002, 12:15 AM i get it!! you explained it perfectly.. lol, if they just left the theme alone we wouldnt have 25 versions for each network to deal with!! lol, were too observant..
FOLN@NFan 04-02-2002, 12:28 AM some things r wrong...
for one, i just found out that all NBC versions of the theme are NOT like the Nick at Nite versions, or the home videos. from what i can tell, the pics r the same as syndication, but not the recordings...whatever
look for a major update on my site TRYING to explain all of this...lol
Doug
PS - I can use anyone thats seen a theme that I haven't!! (and remembers it well enough). also, ive found that almost every theme from every network is different. here are ones i've seen(if i have an ep title after a theme, its just that i remember that one theme):

Season 3 Paramount Home Videos (Rescue Me)
Season 4 Paramount Home Videos (Birth, Death, Love and Rice)

Season 2
Season 3
Season 4
Season 5
