View Full Version : Sweetest people interviewed on UM (at least judging by their demeanor)
marlins3 05-17-2015, 12:34 PM Jean and Russell Johnson are 1 -10 on my list
Who else do you feel seemed very sweet and/or likable (just a genuinely good person)?
MegtheEgg86 05-17-2015, 12:53 PM Jeff Oberholtzer.
DALLASTEXAN!! 05-17-2015, 01:17 PM Gord McAllister
family in the edward harold bell segment
fritz (From the WW2 segement)
Another one that stands out I can't remember his name. A vietnam war pilot that couldn't locate his american daughter? Also christophe day's father and the wrongfully convicted suspect in the bird road rapes.
WishfulDreamer 05-17-2015, 02:21 PM Everyone already mentioned plus:
*Stephen Ross
*Most of the lost love family members, actually
*Susan Billig
*Rose Hoffman
*Rhonda Hinson's parents
*Clarence Robert's brother (even if I disagreed with his opinions)
*Mark Groezinger's brother. You could tell even from that short interview that he really cared about his brother and was trying to be objective about pointing fingers.
*Cliff Davis.
LooksLikeCRicci 05-17-2015, 03:59 PM David Chase's wife Judi.
Rob Schafer.
Jade_Curtiss 05-17-2015, 05:16 PM The engineer from the "Boys on the Tracks" segment. He just sounded so haunted by the event, even though years had passed and he had truly done nothing wrong.
dynoguy88 05-17-2015, 07:07 PM *Dee Ziegert - One of my favorite UM moms. I've seen her in more recent newscasts about anniversaries of Lisa's death and she comes off just as sweet as she did in the segment.
*Bill Day - It's impossible not to admire that guy and how he constantly put the needs of his own son ahead of his own, even while looking for him. He came across like such a nice guy but at the same time, so emotionally drained during his interview.
*Danielle (sister of Tracy Wofford-Bunn) - Level headed and a very likable person in her interview. One of my favorite all time interviewee's.
*Troy Carlton - Despite getting remarried and raising a stepson, it didn't matter that 15+ years had passed at the time since he last saw Pat. He wanted to know that she was alive so she could be reunited with her family and have the happiness she deserved. Unfortunately, he passed away a few years before that ended up happening.
*Mark and Debbie Baskin - I've liked them and felt pain for them ever since I first saw their segment as a kid. Reading Debbie's blog, she's one of the most incredible people I've ever read about.
*Jeff Oberholtzer - Another likable interviewee. Watch the Sensing Murder episode and he STILL comes across like a soft spoken and caring man.
*Stephanie Booker - I was blown away when she said in her interview that she felt sorry for the people driving the boat that mangled her face and how they must have felt when they realized what they had done. She's a much better person than me. I would not be so forgiving.
amandab1234 05-17-2015, 07:31 PM Jeff Oberholtzer
WB Mac McDonald- He seemed to have regretted what happened in the past but was willing to leave his estate/money to his daughter.
Charles Horvaths mother
Annette Burnsides mother
Gayle Delanos mother
Bill Day
Lisa Ziegerts parents
I agree about Russell & Jean Johnson.. nowadays most ppl would call the cops if a homeless man showed up at their door
Larry Dickens mother/sister

RobinW 05-18-2015, 12:19 AM -Gordon Page's parents: You obviously need a lot of strength and character to raise an autistic child and they both seemed like two of the most loving, supportive parents imaginable
-Ron Jackson, the trucker in the John Cheek segment: It's possible he was mistaken about buying breakfast for John in the truck stop, but he still seemed like a very generous, kind-hearted guy
-Tony Miller: I've honestly never seen the full Final Appeal segment, but his joyful reaction at getting released in the update is one of my favourite feel-good moments on UM. I also loved how Tony's lawyer described him as one of the most enjoyable people he's ever met
-Christi Nichols' grandmother looked like a genuinely sweet, classy woman
-Susan Harrison's sons both seemed like a remarkably nice, classy young men, considering the abuse they had to witness their mother go through
-Leon Camp: You just know he would have treated Wendy and her children well and given them a good life if that evil family hadn't intervened.
-Duncan Gilmore and his wife: Most feel-good UM update ever

Duncan Gilmore is a good one. Also Gordon page's dad I always felt bad for him. Seems like he blamed himself a lot IIRC.
dynoguy88 05-18-2015, 02:03 PM Loved Duncan Gilmore and especially his wife Suzanne. She could have easily kept her mouth shut about watching the segment and what she had learned. She didnt HAVE to wake him up. She didn't freak out. She was completely supportive.
Even during the reunion, she has this huge smile on her face as they walk hand in hand up the walkway and then she positions him in front of her after knocking on the door so Duncan and his daughter can be one and one the first time they see each other.
Yay for supportive spouses.

Yeah that must be why the reunion was sooo happy and not hard at all for Duncan.

RobinW 05-19-2015, 12:39 PM Robert Stack: He may have had a voice designed to scare the crap out of you, but you could always see genuine joy in that man's face whenever he provided an update about a solved mystery with a happy ending.

I will always remember how miffed he looked when it was revealed that Kevin and Bean were lying. That was awesome.

"Gene Baxter and Kevin Ryder were LYING!"
From everything I've heard about the man, if you did something to make Robert Stack that pissed off at you, you did BAD!
DALLASTEXAN!! 05-19-2015, 09:03 PM haha good one bob himself. not to get OT but one episode that stands out to me with Bob is the live episode. he was so smooth and calm and the rest of the episode was kind of wheels off when other people were on. he sort of calmed things down. anyway what a great host he was. I always thought it was sweet how he would sympathize with a person in many cases no matter what their issues were...and I bet in real life he was a funny guy.
RightOnDude 05-19-2015, 09:51 PM a case I saw the other day ... the Brown kids, whose mom fell for the murderer prisoner (also named Brown) and drove the getaway car. The son when he was trying to reach out to his mom and let her know she wasn't hated.

I remember a poster on here (can't recall who though) that admitted when they were younger they had contemplated pranking the 800 number. However, they decided against it because they thought the man, Robert Stack hismelf, would come on the phone and yell at them.

I would have paid to see him do a personal sit-down interview with them (shaming them all the while), but he was far too classy of a man to do anything of the sort, I'm sure. But I really love how angry he looks and the way he says it. I'm sure he had plenty to say off-camera about the whole thing.

This.
amandab1234 06-05-2015, 02:23 AM Ok-Cha Wortman's ex husband.(Robert Wortman) This woman up and left her family and they never heard from her again. He eventually remarried and raised Stella on his own. I like how he didnt hold a grudge against his ex wife and still wanted her to come back for his daughters sake
soilentgreen 06-05-2015, 11:54 AM *Troy Carlton - Despite getting remarried and raising a stepson, it didn't matter that 15+ years had passed at the time since he last saw Pat. I really liked him too. Also Barbara Rondeau (Tom Roche's girlfriend).
John Harden's ex wife seemed like she devastated by his death; in spite of how their marriage ended, she had nothing but positive things to say about him. I'm not sure about the poltergeist claims, but an article (http://www.theledger.com/article/20061026/reporter/610260327?p=1&tc=pg) from 2006 has a lot more information about his murder.
DazzlerSparkler 06-08-2015, 12:36 AM Jeanne Boylan!.......she just seems really nice.
Appliance 02-01-2016, 02:18 AM Christine Reinhard, who was married to Craig Williamson, the man with amnesia who went missing for two years. I don't know why, but I love that woman so much. I think she's awesome.
WishfulDreamer 02-01-2016, 03:05 PM Phyllis Strub's husband. After the broadcast, Phyllis returned to face charges and was suffering from cancer. Mr. Strub took care of her to the end despite all she had done.
DazzlerSparkler 02-01-2016, 05:25 PM Charita Harding and Niki Crowder.

crystaldawn 02-01-2016, 06:11 PM Shane Stewart's dad.
Rhonda Hinson's mom.
Larry Dickens mom and sister.
Sheila Kimmell. :)

I do too. She seemed such a sweet lady that I felt sorry when I heard about some of the evidence left out of the segment that pointed to this whole Amnesia thing being a ruse that Craig came up with in order to get out of his relationship. Christine was so sweet. She deserves so much better than that *******.
Hockeygirl 02-02-2016, 03:17 AM The engineer from the "Boys on the Tracks" segment. He just sounded so haunted by the event, even though years had passed and he had truly done nothing wrong.
Jesus, that poor man. :( I can't even imagine what he's gone through. Those poor boys and their families as well. :(
I have two friends who's father's were engineers. My one friend told me a few stories what his dad saw. This may sound morbid, but he said after seeing what he would see, it didn't bother him like it used to.
The other one I remember asking him why you wouldn't hear or read about it. He simply told me something I will never forget. (sorry for going off topic)
Don and Kevin were two innocent victims who's lives were stolen. I hope one day their families get the justice they deserve.
