To me the plots featuring the Darlings got ridiculous after Mountain Wedding. Between Briscoe and clan kidnapping Aunt Bea (I don't care how rural they are, Andy should have arrested all of them) To Charlene divorcing dud and using Mountain Witchcraft to try to get with Andy to them trying to hitch Opie and Charlene's baby to them going after Helen Crump for one of the boys, it just seemed ridiculous.

I never liked The Darlings...just my opinion. I always thought they were in more episodes than just 2. Seems like everytime my dad watches Andy on TV Land, they're airing an episode with The Darlings...my dad loves them but my mom and I don't.

I've always liked The Darlings, especially their music.

I'm sure the Darlings were in more than two episodes, since, as you note, they seem to turn up an awful lot for an eight season series.

The Darlings were in about a half dozen episodes. I did get tired of them after a couple episodes, but Andy must have liked showcasing the Dillard's music so that is probably why they appeared so often.

How far away did they live that they needed to stay overnight in Mayberry to meet Dud when he returned on the bus the next day?

Excellent question since Ernest T. seems to be able to galavant back and forth from their area to downtown Mayberry in a few skips and jumps.

Also, how many lakes are in the Mayberry area, and how far out is Myer's Lake?
