I know not everyone here will know who these people are, so lemme explain: these were created around 1975 to help K and 1st graders learn their letters. There were 21 Letter Boys (consonants), and 5 Letter Girls (vowels). They all had a distinguishing characteristic to accentuate their sound and help kids not only learn the letter sounds, but also the difference between vowels and consonants.

Although my favorite letter is K, my favorite letter person is Mr. F. Gotta love them Funny Feet! :D

Other favorites of mine are Miss U, Mr. K, Miss I, and Mr. P.

When I was little I did not like Miss O. :mad: She was so...so...just so dang obstinate! Someone online though who has the actual PBS episodes of the series says that she was pretty funny in the shows, so I'm willin' to give her a second chance. ;)

That's a hard one to decide. I liked several of them.

Miss A---Achoo!
Mr. F---Funny Feet
Mr. H---Horrible Hair
Mr. M---Munching Mouth
Mr. T---Tall Teeth
Mr. X---All Mixed Up


Out of those, I guess my favorite would be Mr. T.

(By the way, I have EVERY episode on tape. My mom is a school teacher, she is certified to teach the lower grades english, so my mom got those tapes years ago. Now that you mention it, I'll have to bring out those old tapes :) )

My favorite letter person was Mr. D. I also like Mr. T and Miss U.

Yeah Betsy, I saw that---pretty cool! And that's what inspired me to do the poll. :)

Ohh I remember those! My favorite was E for exercise. That was my fav part in the song they had about them. I had the tape until like 1995 then my tape player ate it.

Oh Jeff, I was the complete opposite---I was afraid and opposed to "gettin' to know" Miss E, cause as a kid, I wanted nothin' to do with---*gulp*---exercise! :eek:

Now it's different though---I have a casette tape someone made for me from the original records of each Letter Person's song, and Miss E's is a cool one. :) Turns out she wasn't so bad, and she didn't make me go through a "Kindergarten Boot Camp" or anything (whew!). :D

The only thing I remember about the letter people was when Mr C was mad at Mr K because K was stealing his sound, or maybe it was the other way around. But i remember the theme song, it was catchy. ABCD- follow me.

Yeah, it was Mr. K who was upset with Mr. C. An online friend of mine who has the tapes sent me an episode guide. And I understand Mr. K, I felt the same way about ol' "C" when I was a kid, lol. But I liked the Letter Person Mr. C, he's cool. ;)

And yeah, the theme song was pretty catch and nifty...

Announcer: "'The Letter People'! Today's episode: Mr. F."
