Ashley Olsen the former 28-year-old "Full House" star best known as Michelle Tanner has been diagnosed with Lyme disease (http://www.lipstickalley.com/showthread.php/870823-Ashley-Olsen-reportedly-suffering-from-Lyme-Disease) according to a Saturday, May 9 report from Yahoo News. Olsen is said to be battling the debilitating bacterial illness, which is caused by tick bites and causes pain in the sufferer's skin and joints and problems with the heart and nervous system. Olsen received the tick bites several years ago.

Source's close to Ashley Olsen stated, "She's really sick. It's gotten worse. She was diagnosed in the very late stages so early detection measures weren't options for her. She's really going through it." Ashley's sisters, twin, Mary-Kate and Elizabeth reveal that Ashley's condition has gotten much worse over the past few months, affecting her ability to work. This is the second case of celebrity Lyme Disease to have been made public in the past few months, rocker Avril Lavigne also revealed that she is suffering from the cruel and debilitating disease and recently admitted that she believed she was "dying" when she was stricken down with the disease.

The "Sk8rBoi hitmaker said: "I felt like I couldn't breathe, I couldn't talk and I couldn't move. I thought I was dying ... I had no idea a bug bite could do this. I was bedridden for five months." Lyme disease is incurable and causes symptoms including musculoskeletal pain, cognitive deficits and fatigue. Lyme disease facts Lyme disease is a bacterial illness that is spread by tick bites. The disease can affect the skin, joints, heart, and the nervous system. Lyme disease occurs in phases, with the early phase beginning at the site of the tick bite with an expanding ring of redness resembling a bulls-eye. The disease is not contagious from one person to another and is treated with antibiotics.
