View Full Version : Will Our Season 3 & 4 self made DVD sets be complete?
TeeVeeCloset 05-09-2015, 10:22 AM When season 3 started and premiered after a long over 25 year absense from TV on Antenna TV, the small and cult audience following was excited as we accepted seasons 3 & 4 would never be released.
To me seasons 1 and 2 were more geared with also an adult presence for a "kids" series, but this was expermimental 80's first run syndication and a robot was involved. Tho done in the 60's with "My Living Doll" a one season flop with Julie Newmar and more provocitive. I noticed with seasons 3 and 4 of SW it turned strictly to the kids, very special episodes, and the passion of "Ted & Joan" (who clearly in the first 2 seasons were having a healthy bedroom life). I liked the chemistry and mixture that those seasons could be enjoyed by both child and adult. As with the same that was implied with Rob & Laura Petrie, a normal happily married couple with honeymoon passion.
Now to get to my point! I know about the air and tape date controversy with seasons 3 and 4. I chose to go and record as Antenna was airing, which was air order....but then by mid season, things collapsed and it looks like the season 3 episode "The Fats Of Life" won't air at all! Is it due to some politically correct fat shaming?
The internet episode guides are all mixed up, with each site giving conflicted info & wrong descriptions if any....
any opinions?
BTW....anyone wanting to see a current Dick Christie (Ted) he still acts the same way as character "Charlie" on "The Bold And the Beautiful" weekdays on CBS!

Well no replies, I thought some of you were seriously recording the never to be released seasons 3 & 4 of "Small Wonder" on Antenna TV.
At the conclusion of this four episode weekend we will have one episode left to air from season three, minus the above mentioned NEVER SHOWN "The Fats Of Life".
They have continued to air them mostly in original air order and not production order. With episodes #68 thru #71 airing weekend of May 16, 2015.
Again thoughts and comments are welcome if you can shed some light on subject.

I am recording a set too. I am just over on the One Day at a Time board mostly. It has been years since it last aired on TV so I am glad to see the board active again. I thought the same would happen with Small Wonder but that does not seem to be the case.
Anyhow, Antenna TV mentioned on Facebook that "The Fats of Life" episode was not available to them when the originally got the show from the distributor. They said it will air when the show goes around for it's second cycle.

Thank you my fellow TV production buddy, a proper exact on topic answer!
Yes I have been reading the posts/threads when time permits on both ODAAT, Small Wonder boards, etc.
Do you agree with me or not that most seasons 3 and 4 episodes of "SW" seemed like a lesson as it turned more into a series for children and showed much less marriage chemistry between "Ted & Joan".
BTW....I wrote this on my non responded brief "ODAAT" history thread, but it is ironic that it is true that when "ODAAT" ended production, parts of the set were repurposed for "SW". They recarved the center poles and redid some some woodworking, but look at the back of the center living room in "SW", and to the left....it's the Romano living room!, yes they were taped at the the same non CBS location.
I attended tapings of both "SW" and "ODAAT", I have many set pictures of "SW" as "ODAAT" was being torn down.
All the best

KonfusionFTC 06-02-2015, 12:54 AM Ive been recording all aired episodes of season 3-4 as well. I'm a bit confused about what order to put them in on the final dvds...
I did notice that the retail dvds are not in production order but air date order. But when im watching certain episodes that have a production order from season 4 and an air-date of season 3 Jamie's haircut is different.

I am going by air date instead of production. It is too time consuming to figure out and fans of the show watched the show in air date rather than production date so I will just do it that way.
stevea 06-16-2015, 09:20 AM One episode this past weekend had a distinct audio hum. Was that "The Fats of Life?" Maybe that's why it was skipped, and they had second thoughts and aired it.

That was not "The Fats of Life" because that episode aired last weekend. I did not notice a hum in any of the Small Wonder episodes this weekend. Are you sure your local station was not having an issue?
