Not only is NBC’s Undateable officially returning for a third season, but the network has announced that every episode will air — wait for it — live!

That's awesome news! I'm watching the live episode now on Hulu. I'm glad it got renewed, but I prefer shows that tape and then air the episode. I think live episodes are good just once in a while.

Wow, an entire season of "live" episodes? Undateable could be the first sitcom to broadcast each episode of an entire season live since Roc (on the Fox Network) in the early 1990s.

Undateable wasn't originally NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt's choice to go live. He was initially interested in doing a hospital comedy. "There's a lot of live things in television," he said last year, "but not in scripted programming. So we've been talking about doing a live sitcom. We just have to find the right show."
