Supposedly music rights aren't an issue for Canadian releases so maybe this release from VEI will have all the original music.

Well they recently released Nash Bridges and it was full of replacement music and the fans weren't happy. I was thinking of getting the set but not sure. Also The Equalizer had some music changes too and I did get all of those seasons from VEI….I did get others like Cagney and Lacey which was fine and so was Kate and Allie but their package boxes sucked….one of them completely fell apart….

I am not a fan of this show but if the price is right I might pick it up.

I have a "homemade set" of "GUF" and I'm going to hang onto it for awhile to verify if music has been changed/cut from the new DVDs.

My VEI set for "Gimme a Break!" also doesn't have any music cuts---to my knowledge.

Gimme a Break was a great release from VEI…I think their best followed by Diagnosis Murder...

I think the holdup with the original release announcement from First Look was that Aretha Franklin sang the theme song for the first season. I hope they don't change it for this release.

She sang it in seasons 1-3 actually. It was changed for the Hulu eps, but we can hope it'll be intact on DVD.

I really hope VEI intends to deliver on this series. The first time season 1 was announced by another company it was scrapped. I hope VEI follows through with their plans. I also hope they do a complete series set instead of season sets.

Why don't you e-mail TVShowsonDVD, asking them if Aretha's song will be there or not?

^I already did and they said they didn't know.

I sent VEI an email about the theme song and this is how they replied:

The Grace Under Fire theme used is "Perfect World" which is the same song
used for syndication.

It's likely they used the same prints as Hulu+ then, to my knowledge unedited except for the final episode where a 2½ minute long gag reel was edited out, originally seen during the end credits and beyond.

I'm upset the original theme song won't be used but I'm still excited about this set. I love this show!

VEI has it for 70 cheaper with free shipping. It will be some weeks before amazon drops the price to where VEI has it.

If you can hold off longer the price will drop drastically. Cagney & Lacey was going for as low as $50 when VEI had one of their sales on. I paid over 3 times that much so I am waiting on Hotel for that reason. It's not a must-have for me, but if I can get it for around $75 I will spring for it.

Yes, I think the packaging is just a cheap spindle holding all the DVDs instead of the cases for the individual seasons like the original Hotel had.

^Oh, in that case I'll just get the original sets for "Grace Under Fire" & "Hotel".

Glad I bought the original set. GUF is a favorite of mine from the 90s.

So how is this set? Are they unedited episodes? And was the Aretha song no including in the opening?

Would I be right in thinking that besides using the wrong theme tune that they also changed the opening credits for the early seasons on the dvd. I impulse bought the VCI dvds and popped a season one disk in and it is not what I remember. I remember it to look like this.
