Was their a conflict with the actor who played his father's contract of did he not want to come back?

It made no sense for them not to simply recast the role or just drop the story line and have that character written as being broken up with by Ann or moving away to pursue a career.

Killing him off and leaving his brat with Ann was really bad. Alex never really liked Ann and now these 2 are stuck with each other. Really bad ideas from the writers came about during this season.

Alex should have left with his father. Keeping him was the worst thing they could have done because I wanted to slap his face every time I tuned into the show. I am pretty sure others feel the same way.

I don't know but the actor was a director on the show and did other things too so maybe that was it.
