NBC Picks Up "Chicago Med" to Series

NBC has picked up the "Chicago Fire" spinoff, "Chicago Med", likely for midseason where fellow spinoff "Chicago P.D." launched successfully.

The "Chicago Med" pickup gives Dick Wolf four drama series on NBC next season, three in the "Chicago Fire" franchise plus "Law & Order: SVU".

NBC’s fall schedule will get a healthy dose of "Chicago Med" after all.

Originally held for midseason, Dick Wolf’s latest Windy City-set spinoff will now air this fall on Tuesdays at 9/8c — the slot previously earmarked for the new Melissa George hospital drama "Heartbreaker".

Per NBC, George’s real-life pregnancy has led to a “revised” production schedule, one that precludes it from debuting this fall.


"Chicago Med" — which leads into "Best Time Ever With Neil Patrick Harris" (and then, starting in November, "Chicago Fire") — will air opposite "NCIS: New Orleans", "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.", "Scream Queens" and "iZombie".
