View Full Version : Shows that incorporated the stars pregnancy into the show...
Will and Grace Fanatic 04-27-2015, 04:25 PM Which shows put the star's real life pregnancy into their shows storyline?
I Love Lucy-I believe CBS was against Lucy having the pregnancy written into the show. But in the end aloud it.
Married With Children: Katey Segal was pregnant during the show's run and it was written in, but she ended up having a miscarriage. The writers decided to make her pregnancy a dream.
Adamantium 04-27-2015, 04:31 PM The Office - When Jenna Fischer got pregnant just before season eight, it was written into the show with Pam getting pregnant for the second time.
SitcomsOffline 04-27-2015, 10:01 PM Frasier - It's a stupid plot device and one of the show's lowest points, but when Jane Leeves was pregnant, it was written that Daphne had gotten really fat due to her severe eating disorder and was sent away to fat camp.
Regulus 04-27-2015, 11:57 PM I read Sally Field was Pregnant during the third (and final) season of The Flying Nun. I wonder if the reason season three of this show has never been released is because the owners of this show don't want to upset the Roman Catholic Church.
treky 04-28-2015, 12:08 AM on Bewitched, when Elizabeth Montgomery became pregnant for the 2nd time, they had Samantha pregnant with Tabitha.
on CHEERS, one of Carlas pregnancies was because Rhea Perlman was really pregnant.
Edward216 04-28-2015, 12:52 AM When she was on Scrubs, Christa Miller (who played Dr. Perry Cox's former wife Jordan) had not one but two pregnancies written into the show! Bill Lawrence who created Scrubs and wrote for it, is Miller's real life husband.
This one's not from a sitcom but it's one of my favorites just because of the way the pregnancy was cleverly written into the show.
It's for Star Trek spinoff, Star Trek: Deep Space 9. On the show, they had the married characters of Miles and Keiko O'Brien expecting their second child, Keiko had given birth to their first child on an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation. I don't remember all the details now, but on an episode of DS9 Keiko is involved in a serious accident in the middle of her pregnancy, so in order to save her life and the life of her unborn baby, DS9 doctor Julian Bashir transplants the baby into the body of Major Kira Nerys, a female Bajoran. And it gets more interesting, Nana Visitor who played Kira, was in the middle of her real life pregnancy which before that point hadn't been written into the show. Visitor and actor Alexander Siddig (who played Dr. Bashir) had become romantically involved and she became pregnant, but I think when the pregnancy was written into the show they hadn't married yet, they would marry later that year but divorced after 2 years. Anyway, so while Kira was pregnant on the show, it wasn't her baby she was acting as a surrogate, but she was also involved in the same accident as Keiko so was unconscious at the time Dr. Bashir made the emergency decision to do the transplant and was told about it a little later on. They made a funny reference to Siddig being the father in the episode where Kira gives birth, when she's in sickbay and in labor and Dr. Bashir is attending to her, she yells at him "This is all your fault"! In real life Nana Visitor gave birth to a healthy baby boy, I believe the show writers copied that because Major Kira also gave birth to a baby boy on Deep Space 9. Like I said, it's one of my favorites because of the creative and clever way the pregnancy was written into the series.

Vahan 04-28-2015, 01:02 AM Barbara Eden was pregnant with her one and only child during the filming of the first season of I Dream of Jeannie, no?
Furienna 04-28-2015, 01:34 AM Janet Hubert-Whitten, "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air".
And I also believe that Meredith Baxter had a pregnancy written in on "Family Matters", and that Anne Schedeen had one written in on "Alf".
treky 04-28-2015, 01:56 AM Barbara Eden was pregnant with her one and only child during the filming of the first season of I Dream of Jeannie, no?
yes, but that wasn't written into the show.
treky 04-28-2015, 01:59 AM when Lisa Kudrow became pregnant it was written into FREINDS .
treky 04-28-2015, 02:03 AM When she was on Scrubs, Christa Miller (who played Dr. Perry Cox's former wife Jordan) had not one but two pregnancies written into the show! Bill Lawrence who created Scrubs and wrote for it, is Miller's real life husband.

I remember when Kira was pregnant on DS9 and I knew that Nana Visitor was really pregnant at the time, but I don't remember all that stuff about Keiko O'Brian.

Edward216 04-28-2015, 02:17 AM Yes, that was the storyline treky.

ETA: Miles and Keiko named their son Kirayoshi. Partly to honor Major Kira for carrying their baby, notice "Kira" at the beginning of the name.
DJM77 04-28-2015, 05:56 AM And I also believe that Meredith Baxter had a pregnancy written in on "Family Matters"
Family. Meredith Baxter wasn't on Family Matters.
Furienna 04-28-2015, 06:04 AM Gah, I meant "Family Ties"!
DJM77 04-28-2015, 06:49 PM Gah, I meant "Family Ties"!
Oh, duh, I should have known that you meant Family Ties. I didn't even think about it until now, but Meredith Baxter was on 2 shows with the word "family" in the title.

installLSC 04-28-2015, 11:23 PM When Susan Richardson got pregnant in the fourth season of "Eight is Enough", the writers decided to include the pregnancy in the series. (Which explains why her character got married after just two episodes of the season.) Her character gave birth in the season five opener.
HauntedThunderman94 10-22-2015, 01:55 AM Good Luck Charlie - Leigh Alynn Baker got pregnant in Good Luck Charlie: It's Christmas DCOM, the writers decided to include the pregnancy in the series.
Amy Duncan gave birth midway in Season 3.
treky 10-22-2015, 03:18 AM never heard of both of those shows.
Bonniegirl 10-22-2015, 09:40 AM I read Sally Field was Pregnant during the third (and final) season of The Flying Nun. I wonder if the reason season three of this show has never been released is because the owners of this show don't want to upset the Roman Catholic Church.

Keeping Up With The Kardashians
It seems to me like every week one of them gets pregnant. It's starting to get old already.
