(The Atlanta Hawks beat the Brooklyn Nets 99-92.)

(Ralph & Ed just watched the game in the Kramden apartment.)

Ralph: "How could those Nets lose to the Hawks Norton? A team that hasn't won a NBA title since the original version of the Jackie Gleason Show was on the air."

Ed: "Well, Ted Turner owns the team and he probably bought all of his talent."

Ralph: "That BUM! What nerve that he has for buying all his talent. I can't stand sports teams that run like that."

Ed: "The Yankees run like that and you like them."

Ralph: "Don't change the subject."

Ed: "Ralph, during times like this, you got to cheer up and smile."

Ralph: "What have I got to smile about?"

Ed: "It's easy to smile when things are going good but now its a challenge. Come on Ralph. Smile there. Let me see you smile Ralph. Give me the old Lberace there Ralph."

(Ralph smiles.)

Ed: "I want you to stay that way. Think of happier times. Think of earlier today when the Nets had a chance to win before the Hawks obliterated them. Think of how the Nets still have a chance to win the NBA title even though they can only lose now three times before they are eliminated from contention."

Ralph (yells): "YOU CAN YOU EXPECT ME TO SMILE WHEN YOU ARE TALKING LIKE THAT?"

Ed: "It's easy Ralph. I'm a Hawks fan. I have pity on any team that has the longest championship drought in any league."

Ralph (yells): "GET OUT! GEEEEEEEEEEEET OUT!"

(Jackie Gleason walks on stage. Crowd applauds.)

Jackie: "Thank you. The Miami Beach crowds are the BEST! GOOD NIGHT!"

(Crowd cheers.)
