I keep seeing post and stuff that he died from cancer in his home state on good times imbd other sites.
Zoneboy 04-16-2015, 07:42 PM Why post information that has yet to be confirmed? IMDb is not reliable and you also provided no link to your sources.
MikeLutton 04-16-2015, 08:01 PM I seen it on imbd and here

IMDb & Wiki can be edited by anyone at anytime, and the other source you gave is a gossip site so it's still unconfirmed.
JoshLarson24 04-16-2015, 08:37 PM Ben Powers is not a huge or even notable star so why would their be any major confirmation on his death. It does not scream CNN or any big time news station headlines.
I pick on MikeL constantly for not posting credible information but I give him props for posting this. We would never have known about Ben Powers death if it weren't for these sites.
Give the man a break. There are so many stupid threads on here and you guys want this one pulled?
BigManMike 04-16-2015, 08:47 PM I just found out through someone's shared post on Facebook. Sad he had to die young. RIP Ben Powers.

Trust me, I know what I'm doing. First of all, I never stated that Ben Powers was a huge name nor did I say anything about CNN on any other news station. When I said reliable source, I meant Hollywood Reporter, Deadline, Variety, etc...
Second, the sources he gave are not reliable, everyone here knows that IMDb and Wiki have been known to post false info.
Finally, he may very well have passed but like I said, why start a thread without a reliable source to back-it-up?

Saw it on Facebook also but the source is the same that MikeL gave so it's still unconfirmed. If the page you saw has a different source then please link to it.
Mr. Television 04-16-2015, 11:10 PM Yea I looked around and can't find anyplace that confirms it. I hope it's not true.

How did you find it? I've been scouring the internet for 2 solid days and came up empty including an exhaustive search of funeral homes and Google brought up nothing no matter how I entered it.

OOliver 04-19-2015, 11:55 AM Powers lived just a few miles away from me, and at one time, my he was a patient where one of my relatives worked (in a Providence health-care facility). His obit is in today's local paper. They have nothing but fond memories of him during his stay there just a few years ago.
king of comedy 04-19-2015, 04:38 PM I read he was in the revival of Laugh In. That one had Robin Williams. WOOOOW!! That was him? OMG!! Small world.
BigManMike 04-19-2015, 06:30 PM I think he is only the second person from Good Times that has passed. Esther Rolle (Florida) passed in 1998 and I think everyone else is still living.
Janice Johnson 04-30-2015, 05:39 AM Well to be fair, most of the cast was younger than Ben or just a few years older than him. Janet Dubois is only five years older than him, Jimmie Walker is 3 years older, Bernadette Stanis is 1 or two years younger than him, Ralph Carter is 11 years younger, and Janet Jackson is 16 years younger than him. Only Johnny Brown and Esther Rolle were considerably older than him..... Think Esther was like 30 years older than him and Johnny 13 years older than him.
mimi_75042 10-12-2015, 07:40 PM Did he really die? That's sad..
