Martin Short's Botox-loving Kimmy Schmidt character Dr. Sidney Grant was believed to be based on Dr. Fredric Brandt (http://pagesix.com/2015/03/23/was-kimmy-schmidt-character-based-on-famed-doctor/), AKA the "Baron of Botox." On Sunday, Brandt was found dead of an unknown illness. And according to one reporter, Brandt was "devastated" (http://www.miamiherald.com/news/local/obituaries/article17488187.html) by Short's portrayal.

that's pretty far-fetched - even if the character does bear a resemblance to the doctor, it is clearly a grossly over-exaggerated parody and to suggest that someone committed suicide over it and didn't have any other problems is just insensitive, unrealistic and opportunistic.

However, the publicist for Dr. Fredric Brant -- whom police confirm committed suicide (http://pagesix.com/2015/04/06/celebrity-dermatologist-committed-suicide-by-hanging/) over the weekend -- says Tina Fey's Netflix series had nothing to do with the doctor's death. "The show definitely deeply hurt him, he was being made fun of because of the way he looks," publicist Jacquie Trachtenberg tells Page Six of Short's plastic surgeon character Dr. Franff, who bore a striking resemblance to Brant. "It is mean, and it was bullying. But the show was not the reason for his depression, and it was not the reason he would take his own life."

To patients of the cosmetic dermatologist to the stars, Brandt, who committed suicide last week, made light of Martin Short's apparent portrayal of him. "But with closer friends," the NY Times reports, "Dr. Brandt brought it up numerous times, in far less lighthearted terms."
