I just watched the Season Two episode "Mama's Birthday," where she recalls her 30th. Near the end of the episode, Mama receives a call from Eunice.
I know Vicki and Carol had a falling out about Mama's Family, but that voice on the telephone certainly sounded like Carol Burnett. There was no name in the credits at the end - does anyone know if that was Carol on the phone, or someone else? Perhaps taken from a previous audio clip?
And, side note - the girl who played a young Eunice nailed the part!

I've often wondered about this, too. The voice sounds just like Carol. I'm not sure who could verify this for sure.
And you're right...that young actress that played little Eunice was perfection.

Yes, it was obviously Carol. You can just tell. In the later graduation episode, now that lady on the phone was obviously not Carol, lol. The awkwardness between Carol and Vicki which caused some separation didn't happen until MF started season 3, its first syndicated season.

I don't think they had the falling out until the syndicated episodes started, it was at that time that Carol was wanting to bring her variety show back, and she wanted Vicky to rejoin her and do more Eunice and Mama Sketches with her, but Vicky had already dedicated to Mama's Family. Carol was even in one season 2 episode.
I also heard that Carol was toying with the idea of a weekly sitcom featuring Eunice and Mama together at that time.
So yeah I'm almost definitely sure that was Carol's voice.

Correct, it was just after Vicki signed to do MF with Joe.

The latter is true, yes. Vicki's book says Carol called her and said she had been thinking about putting together a show with the Family characters, and said wouldn't that be so much fun, and she asked her what she thought; then Vicki had to awkwardly tell her she had literally just signed to do MF with Joe (this is in Vicki's book, but she doesn't mention Carol wanting to do a variety show at that point, but a Harper show).
So yeah I'm almost definitely sure that was Carol's voice.
I am definitely sure. It is Carol. No doubt.

I dunno, it may have been a rumor, but I just heard Carol was wanting to bring back her variety show at that time as well. I think she attempted to bring it back a few times, but it was usually unsuccessful, I think by this time ppl were out of the variety show mood.
