In a Very Special Episode of Family Matters (http://muesproductions.com/tag/family-matters/), a group of girl steal Laura's leather jacket at work, and Urkel does a magic show. When crime at the school becomes more rampant, more and more students bring guns to school until an idiot gets shots over her shoes.

To me, that is one of the best episodes of the show.

That particular episode really had some of the worst aspects of the "Very Special Sitcom Episode" trend from the '80s-'90s:
*Take what's in reality, a very complex societal issue and simplify it make it appear "black & white". In this case, "guns are bad", but w/o any examination of the core issue of bullying.

*Weird, uneven tonal shifts. What I mean is, it's hard to take an issue like violence at schools seriously when you have a goofy character like Steve Urkel heavily involved. It's makes of confusing towards when is or isn't the right time to laugh.

*Having a pat revolution w/ everybody turning their guns in. We don't deal w/ the fall out of Laura's friend getting shot or the girl who shot her.
