View Full Version : I don't believe CBS would let the episode "The House Guest" end like this

I am sure back in 1975 that after Ernie walks with the silver salt and pepper shakers, there was some kind of brief tag scene showing that Ernie returned the shakers or that the Evans was able to get a replacement.

I mean why would a episode just end with Ernie walking out the door with the shakers and that's it? So maybe the original CBS version of this episode of this episode wasn't available for DVD

Interesting thought, TVFactFan. I always wondered why "The Houseguest" ended the way it did, with Ernie Harris (Thalmus Rasulala) walking out of the Evans apartment with their silver salt and pepper shakers. You'd think James would've kicked his ass in the hallway and thrown him down the stairs (seventeen flights, mind you) or something, but no...instead, the episode ended with Florida closing the case the salt and pepper shakers were kept in. I'm certain there was an epilogue or coda scene with the Evanses receiving the salt and pepper shakers either in the mail or anonymously from a total stranger several days or weeks later.

Or atleast when Ernie went to reach for them James could have pulled his arm back and said "yeah I knew it" Now get the hell out lol

Just let the man walk out with the shakers

I don't know. Looking back at this series I think a lot of the episodes ended on a down note, at least for me they did.

We just finished watching that episode and I said that James would never have let him walk away with those shakers. That was a mistake, in my opinion.

I had the same thought, or once he took them James said "Give those back you sick fool. "
