View Full Version : Robert Durst a suspect in disappearance of Kristin Modafferi?
LooksLikeCRicci 03-18-2015, 11:52 AM I didn't see this one coming...
Robert Durst may be a person of interest in the Kristin Modafferi disappearance, at least according to The New York Daily News (http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/crime/cops-investigate-robert-durst-connection-to-missing-teens/ar-BBijSwe?ocid=HPCDHP).
If you remember, Kristin Modafferi (http://unsolvedmysteries.wikia.com/wiki/Kristen_Modafferi)disappeared from San Francisco in June 1997.
This case always resonated with me because Kristin and I were very close in age. While I'm not sure about the new Robert Durst link, I am curious to see how this ultimately plays out.
rerungirl 03-18-2015, 12:16 PM I just read a brief article about this a few minutes ago. It would be surprising if Durst was involved in her disappearance, but anything is possible. This is another old case that really needs to be solved.
tarheelslim 03-18-2015, 05:10 PM I don't think I've ever heard of this case (although she went to the college across the street from where I lived back then!).
Just based on what I read on the UM wiki and unsolved.com it sounded like they had a pretty good suspect already, just not enough evidence to do anything.
1990 UM fan 03-18-2015, 08:00 PM It just keeps getting interesting. Kristen Modafferi's case is one I'd like to see solved. Wouldn't surprise me if the "dressing in drag" thing is true, and as to why he got close enough to her to harm her. Is that Onuma guy still a suspect in Kristen's disappearance or no? He's creepy...they're both creepy.
soilentgreen 03-19-2015, 01:17 PM Oakland PD says there's no link with Durst to Modafferii's disappearance: http://www.charlotteobserver.com/news/local/crime/article15330872.html
Onuma is an abusive creep towards women, whether or not he had any involvement in Kristen's disappearance. Apparently he has went by the name Jade Yoshino since then and was connected to some weird guru type, George (also referred to as Daniel and a host of other names) Dubie, who was murdered in Thailand in 2006 (a woman named Margaret Crane has since been convicted for the crime).
wiseguy182 03-19-2015, 03:49 PM Dateline is doing an episode on him tonight. Sorry I couldn't give further notice, but the episode information for NBC Dateline episodes doesn't surface until its almost time for them to air it.
wiseguy182 03-19-2015, 11:43 PM Between Robert Durst's smirking and his creepy black eyes (as another poster mentioned), I can't look at him without getting the urge to slap him.
LooksLikeCRicci 03-20-2015, 01:03 PM I adore my clueless husband.
He saw brief headlines of the Durst case... and then asked me, "This isn't the guy from Limp Biskit, is it?"
Oh, honey. No. :)
wiseguy182 03-20-2015, 04:45 PM 48 Hours doing an episode this week as well.
And if 20/20 ever provides info on what they're showing, I'll add that on as well.
wiseguy182 03-21-2015, 03:27 PM Just in case you missed all of the 80 million programs on him this week, ID will be airing a special on him tomorrow night, repeats early Monday morning.
TheCars1986 03-23-2015, 08:13 AM Durst seems more like a serial killer who kills people that he knows. Unless there is some connection between Durst and Modafferi, I don't think he was involved.

I agree. Just thought it was an interesting development. :)
