One character I remember from the first two Odd Couple incarnations was Murray the Cop. He was played by Al Molinaro in the original and John Schuck in The New Odd Couple but he doesn't appear in the new version. I wonder why Murray isn't in the current Odd Couple.

Cops have a bad rap these days in the media.

I was wondering that myself, I liked Murray the cop. They also don't have Speed or Oscar's other friends, or the Pigeon sisters.

The producers probably wanted a new feel to this version of the Odd Couple.

But I think they've strayed too far away from Neil Simon's version.

I also miss Murray and the Pigeon sisters.

The names of the ex-wives have even been changed. ????

To me, they're ex-wives will always be Blanche and Gloria.

Some things had to be updated for a 21st Century audience.

Not a lot of women in their 40s these days named Blanche or Gloria.
