I would like to pay tribute to this former Northern Irish politician who fought for his country and did so much behind the scenes to assuage political tensions in the civil war which killed 4000 British citizens. He was the quiet spoken personage in contrast to loudmouth Ian Paisley, but both found their unionist influence waning after Sinn Fein IRA renounced violence in the Good Friday Agreement of 1998.http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-31793756
