Figures Toys Company has finally released their 12 inch Gilligan and The Skipper action figures. The 8 inch figures will follow later this year. These are in the old 1970s Mego style.
They are great figures with just a few minor quibbles. Both have removable hats. I received them yesterday to go with my custom Ginger.

Ginger is pretty good. Maybe too much Lady Penelope in it. The Skipper is so-so. The smile is good. But Gilligan is terrible. No likeness at all.

The Ginger doll is a very good likeness, right down to the beauty mark on her cheek. Alas, her body looks anorexic!

Ginger is the only one that looks real. The skipper looks like Ed Mcmahon.

How is the skipper the same height and width as Gilligan? And Ginger is taller than both of them.
Gilligan looks like the stinking badges guy from The Treasure of the Sierra Madre.

The Ginger is not really Ginger. It's a fashion doll that (to me) resembles Tina Louise. But it's not officially Ginger Grant in any way. I added the beauty mark. This line (Fashion Royalty) has tall thin female dolls hence the semi-anorexic look.
These figures are modern versions of the old 1970s Mego toys. Mego used the same body for all of their 1/6 scale figures back then. So the company making them has done the same and didn't try to make a different range of figure heights. The heftier body for The Skipper (and Boss Hogg in their Dukes of Hazzard line) is new, however.

I like that Ginger doll. If I were more of a doll collector, I'd consider buying her over the others.
Those are AWESOME! Skipper looks like he's lost some weight. Ginger looks just like Ginger!!!
