What a brilliant animated piece of gold! I hope it lasts as long as Simpsons or South Park. This show could go FAR. It could be very popular if it was on another network and on earlier. Like on FOX or something. Instead it's stuck on Cartoon Network's ADULT SWIM every Sunday night at 10 pm.
What are your comments and thoughts on this show, if you watch it or have seen it?:p
Finally! Someone else who agrees with me!
"Home Movies" is indeed a great series. It is in my opinion the best original program on Cartoon Network.
Home Movies did air on UPN in 1999, druing the tail end of the prime time animation boom when every network was trying to do some hip cartoons. The show was generally ignored by the viewing public, and only lasted a few episodes. Cartoon Network bought those original episodes, and last year began producing new ones.
The original episodes were done in "squigglevison" the jumpy animation style used on Comedy Central's "Dr. Katz," which is no coincidence, because they're both produced by the same folks.
The new episodes are done sans "squigglevison," so I guess Cartoon Network actually put some $ into the show.
Thanks to cartoon network, this show would have probably vanished, never to be seen again. Hopefully, they'll start putting out a DVD collection.
I am glad it is part of the Adult Swim lineup. "Home Movies" turned me on to the other really funny shows they're doing on Sunday night.
"Home Movies" is one of my favorites.
