Hi,

I'm looking to find (hopefully online) an episode of a show that featured the case of the Trench Coat Gang. Their spree is so fascinating to me because it was so prolific.

They were featured on Unsolved Mysteries:

Valley Bank Robbery (http://unsolvedmysteries.wikia.com/wiki/Valley_Bank_Robbery) Segment

I've seen that one numerous times. But the show I'm referring to was line the FBI Files except that it wasn't. I'm thinking it might have been the Investigators on Court TV but, that seems wrong too.

Then I found this (http://www.incite-pictures.com/the-trenchcoat-gang/) which would indicates that the show in question was Court Tv's "The System". However, a Google search for such a show yielded me nothing.

I know I recall seeing this case featured on a Court TV show (I think) in probably 2006 or 2007. Well before that channel changed to Tru TV and went down the toilet.

Any help finding this episode would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

The UM wiki link you included refers to them as the "The Trenchcoat Robbers".

I looked up the Trenchcoat Robbers on Wikipedia, and it includes this external link: http://www.tvguide.com/shows/the-investigators-198009/episodes/5/

This shows The Investigators did air the Trenchcoat Gang on June 26, 2003.

"An in-depth examination of the “Trenchcoat Robbers,” a pair of polite criminals who robbed at least 27 banks from 1982 until their arrest in 1997. Included in their travails was one heist in Washington state that netted more than $4 million. Lending their insights: retired FBI agents Bob Harvey and Mike Goergen; IRS agent Bill Waters; ATF agent Paul Marquardt; Tom Jackman of the Washington Post; Jenny Delamotte, the girlfriend of one of the robbers; and Dan Bowman, the brother of the same robber."

Good memory on the slightly different name. Hopefully this is what you were remembering and you can track down the episode.

Oh, it looks there was actually a show called The System that profiled this case. That website is also linked on Wikipedia:

On the above page there is a link to an article, written by Alex Kotlowitz. That link is broken, but that same article can be read here:

That's the one! Looks like there is a small collection of episodes of this show on iTunes, unfortunately not this particular episode.

Thanks for the info, hopefully I'll be able to find it again sometime and re-watch.

Graci!
