Janice Johnson 02-23-2015, 06:58 AM James Avery himself wanted to do one more Season, but the ratings were declining, and many fans of the show were complaining that the show was getting stupid, plus Will the actor who was roughly 29 was getting tired of playing 23 year old Will Smith in a family sitcom (this is what happens when the actor is roughly 6 years older than his character), and wanted to go on and do mature movie roles. Mace Dolex 02-23-2015, 03:24 PM I think it ended at the right time, I was watching out of habit so it didn't matter much whether it continued another season or get cancelled. king of comedy 02-23-2015, 06:37 PM I think it ended at the right time, I was watching out of habit so it didn't matter much whether it continued another season or get cancelled. I agree. One more year would have ruined it. Mr. Television 02-23-2015, 08:11 PM I stopped watching about 2 years before it ended. Blackout 02-23-2015, 08:18 PM seasons 5 and 6 have some of the best episodes ever Mace Dolex 02-24-2015, 12:01 AM Wasn't Blossom gone by that point too? I think that was around also when NBC was focusing more on hits like Seinfeld and Friends that were about young single people. cleverfun3000 02-24-2015, 05:17 PM Didn't Will get married? We met him in his late teens. Shows usually end or change for the worst - which leads to the end of the series when the main character marries ( or in some cases gets pregnant.) You can't be The Fresh Price AND be married. It's an oxymoron! Mace Dolex 02-24-2015, 05:39 PM Yeah and I don't think viewers would have cared for a spin-off called The Fresh King Of Bel-Air. cleverfun3000 02-25-2015, 10:06 AM Yeah and I don't think viewers would have cared for a spin-off called The Fresh King Of Bel-Air. http://i.imgur.com/ax3bzLj.png (http://lunapic.com>) Blackout 02-25-2015, 01:42 PM Didn't Will get married? You can't be The Fresh Price AND be married. It's an oxymoron! No, that plot is contained entirely in season 5. Then Lisa disappears and you never hear about her again. I didn't really like that season. :p simmytbone 02-25-2015, 09:12 PM Yeah and I don't think viewers would have cared for a spin-off called The Fresh King Of Bel-Air. Or I was thinking that had he moved to New York City after College then they probably would've named it The Fresh Prince of Manhattan or The Fresh Prince of Queens or perhaps The Fresh Prince of Harlem, but yes, I agree with that statement also, I agree that Will Smith was getting tired of playing The Fresh Prince and the last episode came in @ the right moment also, the last 2 seasons were low on the ratings as the last 2 seasons competed against The Nanny when CBS moved the show to Monday Nights competing against Fresh Prince and moved back to Wednesday Nights after Prince ended and adding Ross Bagley as Nicky didn't help the ratings either, but Prince still had great moments on the show The Nanny cracked the Nielsen Ratings Top 30 during the 94/95 Season and cracked the Top 20 during the 95/96 Season and Fresh Prince was @ #55 for the last 2 seasons and when Fresh Prince left NBC, not only did The Nanny move BACK to CBS Wednesday Nights, but also, Alfonso Riberio who played Will's cousin Carlton joined the cast of In the House (another show produced by Fresh Prince Producers Quincy Jones and David Saltzman) when the show moved from NBC to upn and James Avery also moved to upn as the star of the Lawyer Comedy Sparks and the show lasted 2 seasons Blackout 02-25-2015, 11:45 PM in THEORY the series should have ended with Will get married or Will settling down somewhere SPOILER obviously it ended with everyone else getting their **** together first and will spending the series finale wondering what to do Mace Dolex 02-26-2015, 12:18 AM Its hard to believe the Fresh Prince was getting its ass handed to it by a mediocre crap like The Nanny. simmytbone 02-26-2015, 08:02 AM Wasn't Blossom gone by that point too? I think that was around also when NBC was focusing more on hits like Seinfeld and Friends that were about young single people. Yes indeed, NBC Monday Nights during the 94/95 Season were losing viewers as both shows were @ #55 when Fresh Prince and Blossom were up against CBS' The Nanny which cracked the Nielsen Ratings Top 30 and Dave's World which cracked the Nielsen Ratings Top 20 which means that they got higher ratings than NBC's Monday Night Duo of Fresh Prince and Blossom and yes, during that time, after the 93/94 Season was not so kind to NBC, that's when NBC's Must See TV Thursday began rising up again with Friends, TV's #1 Drama ER (which ended Murder She Wrote's 9 years reign as the #1 Drama on Prime Time Television) and TV's #1 Comedy Seinfeld and NBC was BACK on top on Prime Time Television Friends cracked the Nielsen Ratings Top 10 during it's 1st Season and when the show moved to 8/7 during the 95/96 Season, it began its 9 year reign in the Nielsen Ratings Top 5, but I was more of a Living Single Guy than a Friends Guy, but that's another story at another time, although I loved the 2nd Season of Friends b/c of Jennifer Aniston Furienna 02-26-2015, 11:52 AM Its hard to believe the Fresh Prince was getting its ass handed to it by a mediocre crap like The Nanny. Hey, I like "The Nanny" too! :p Blackout 02-26-2015, 01:40 PM Its hard to believe the Fresh Prince was getting its ass handed to it by a mediocre crap like The Nanny. americans are stupid lol TVFactFan 03-15-2015, 12:49 AM Its hard to believe the Fresh Prince was getting its ass handed to it by a mediocre crap like The Nanny. How did that stupid a$$ show last 6 years? TVFactFan 03-15-2015, 12:52 AM The show could not have lasted too much longer anyway because even Ashley was getting older and looking like she was in her 20's even though she was only 16 in the last season. So I think it ended at the right time because the kids got older and that's when you end a family sitcom Plus Will, Alfonso, and the girl who played Hilary were all adults when the show started. |
