View Full Version : The new Odd Couple Patty Duke 02-21-2015, 09:42 AM I wanted to like it because my husband and I are desperate for something GOOD to watch on TV but we thought it was horrible. :thumbsdow :thumbsdow treky 02-22-2015, 02:43 AM I thought it was PRETTY good, not bad but not great. But you shouldn't judge a new show by the first 1, 2, 0r 3 episodes. (or in some cases, the entire first season if there is one:) ) JSP 02-22-2015, 11:21 AM I liked it. Sal 02-22-2015, 04:10 PM Watching this show only made me realize how great the original TV series was and it can never be duplicated. The new one is still better than the last remake with Demond Wilson and Ron Glass. That one was simply horrible. The new show also has Matthew Perry as its star. That means don't blink or you'll miss it! Coffeecup 02-22-2015, 10:01 PM Sal, How does one get Hulu.? Do i pay for hulu and if so how much do you pay? Sal 02-22-2015, 11:55 PM Sal, How does one get Hulu.? Do i pay for hulu and if so how much do you pay? You get to watch shows on Hulu for free. There's also Hulu Plus which you have to pay for so naturally I try to avoid it. The Odd Couple can be seen on Hulu for free and on YouTube which is also free. comedyfreak 02-23-2015, 07:59 PM I liked the episode it's just getting started, for me I wish they would stick to the original character names from the first version. Their ex-wives in the original were Gloria and Blanche. I will watch a few more shows. Mr. Television 02-23-2015, 08:08 PM The show was better than I thought it was going to be. I'll have to watch more to get a better fix on it. DJM77 02-23-2015, 08:51 PM I don't want this show to succeed because if it does then it will tarnish the legacy of the original. Mr. Television 02-23-2015, 08:53 PM I don't want this show to succeed because if it does then it will tarnish the legacy of the original. I don't know how that can happen. The original was a classic. DJM77 02-23-2015, 08:59 PM I don't know how that can happen. The original was a classic. Because if the new version is successful then the general public will be more prone to forget about the original. If it last more than about 3 seasons then I could easily imagine me mentioning The Odd Couple to someone about 10 years from now and them responding with "Oh, I love Matthew Perry!" If it last more than about 3 seasons then I could easily imagine me mentioning The Odd Couple to someone about 10 years from now and them responding with "Oh, I love Matthew Perry!" I say if the show is good enough to last that long, then what's the problem? Good TV is good TV. comedyfreak 02-23-2015, 09:58 PM Because if the new version is successful then the general public will be more prone to forget about the original. You'll just have to be more specific when talking about the Original version that's all. veggie-tari-jenn 02-23-2015, 10:40 PM didn't care for it at all...love the original.... JSP 02-24-2015, 03:52 AM I don't know why people are so upset about the new version thinking it will somehow taint the Klugman/Randall version. It's not like there isn't a precedent for remaking The Odd Couple. Before Klugman/Randall there was Lemmon/Matthau anyway, and after Klugman/Randall there was Glass/Wilson. If anything The Odd Couple is a franchise that is prone to being re-invented every now and then. Success or failure of one comic pairing doesn't take away from what Klugman/Randall did. AB 02-24-2015, 04:37 PM I'll watch another couple of episodes to see if it gets better. mets82 02-24-2015, 04:48 PM I def will have to watch it. I just have to remember that it wont be like Klugman/Randall nor should it. Let this New Odd Couple stand on its own. I really agree. It's like Hawaii Five-O. The original was a classic but I like the new one as well. I don't think it taints the original. I'm usually against remakes but once in a while it works. I'm not saying this new Odd Couple is great but I'll continue to watch it and see how it goes. treky 02-24-2015, 08:29 PM me too. JamesG 02-25-2015, 02:26 AM You get to watch shows on Hulu for free. Yeah, I pay for Hulu Plus through my PlayStation at $7.00 a month. yankeesrj12 02-27-2015, 12:15 PM I thought episode 2 was much improved. Much more tilted to Felix/Lennon than episode 1, and they ditched the unfunny blonde. I agree! Comedies always take time to find their groove, and I think The Odd Couple has potential. Matthew Perry was a little stiff in the pilot, but he loosened up last night. In addition, there were a few times I laughed out loud last night, and I didn't do that during the pilot. I'm hoping for an even better episode three! |
