If he does return for the finale, here's a guess as to how it might play out in the final scene:

Charlie shows up at his former Malibu beach house hoping to retrieve that last bag of cash he stashed since faking his own death in order hide from his crazy stalking neighbor Ruth. Berta, the housekeeper, is the only one who knows of Charlie’s secret. She’s the only one he could trust. They have a brief conversation at the end of the final episode as he’s grabbing his loot:

Charlie: I’ll tell you what, Berta, living on the run as a dead guy is not cheap.

Berta: Well, you could give up hookers and drugs.

Charlie: Now WHY would I do THAT?

Berta: Sorry. What was I thinkin’.

Charlie (smugly as he get ready to leave): So, I’ll bet it hasn’t been the same without me, huh?

Berta: The same? No….but we’re doin’ alright.

Charlie: Yeah…..yeah you are. (Wistful pause) Gotta run….…got Elvis and Marilyn waiting in the car……..bye Berta.

Berta: Bye Charlie.

Fade out.

It was alright. I was hoping to see Charlie but I was glad to see Jake.

While the finale (http://forums.previously.tv/topic/22419-s12e15-of-course-hes-dead-parts-i-and-ii/?view=getnewpost) boasted big name appearances from the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0369179/board/flat/240517758?p=1) and John Stamos, Sheen was a no-show. To add insult to injury, a faceless character intended to represent Charlie does show up briefly, but a grand piano falls on his head. This unsubtle joke was punctuated by a shattering of the fourth wall, with the camera cutting to Chuck Lorre in the director's chair so he can shout "Winning!" to the millions of people watching.

That's the level of humor Two and a Half Men believed was witty and groundbreaking since its first season. For a show that's long been criticized for being low-brow and trite, it didn't do itself any favors by ending on a such a mean-spirited note.

So it seems the Sheen-Lorre beef will live on. Luckily for fans of decent television, Two and a Half Men will not. That is at least until syndication takes over.
