do you believe in the afterlife?

http://unsolvedmysteries.wikia.com/wiki/Thomas_Sawyer

Real Name: Thomas Sawyer
Case: Near-Death Experiences
Location: Unrevealed
Date: 1978
CaseEdit

Details: In 1978, Thomas "Tom" Sawyer was working on his car in a garage when the car fell on him. He was clinically dead for fifteen minutes. Afterward, he described a near-death experience in which he walked through a tunnel to the "light of God" and was told to spread the word of God and tell of his experience.
Extra Notes: The case was featured as a part of the February 22, 1989 episode.
Results: Unsolved. In 2007, Tom passed away, but his near-death experience remains a mystery.

so if a young innocent child is brutally beaten abused then murdered, he or she simply becomes a corpse. :( :( :( :(

and evil men and women who commit heinous crimes and never caught never brought to justice when they die they also become a corpse.

It's not sad at all. It's better to have doubts than believe something just because it's comforting.

Liked it when they shoved Ultimate Warrior in the casket on the Funeral Parlour & Warrior had an NDE after being in there for about five minutes.

Interestingly tests have been done where certain items are placed in a high position where they would be visible to somebody floating outside their own body & guess what nobody who experiences these things ever see them despite reporting all the symptoms of an OBE. This suggests it is simply down to dreaming, lack of oxygen & some people actually waking up during an operation but not being able to move.

Yes. Exactly.

Yes. Exactly.

+1. I don't understand why "simply becoming a corpse" is a bad thing.

The principle of "and to dust you shall return" is, to me, a wonderfully humbling and greatly unifying concept in the context of humanity.

Call me naïve, but yes I do.

I'd also like to believe that the WWE would bring back the funeral parlor segments.

You know what I miss? Celebrity Deathmatch on MTV. Maybe I'll borrow my daughter's Play-Doh and whip up some characters from the forum for fun..

YES.

And yes on Celebrity Deathmatch. It was almost--almost--as dumb as the Tom Green Show, but what the hell, Claymation celebrities killing each other.

I also used to watch a lot of I'm With Busey on Comedy Central, and those Kids in the Hall reruns. Oh to be a sophomore in high school again. And by that I mean like for an hour. Maybe 45 minutes.

Wouldn't work as Paul Bearer is actually dead & Undertaker looks like a shrunken old man.

That is the way the world has worked since the beginning of time, you are born, you live & eventually you die & become a corpse.

Wow. I remember watching Whose Line is it Anyway followed by Kids in the Hall reruns religiously on Comedy Central. My day consisted of Unsolved Mysteries on Lifetime from 12 to 2, and then the switch to Comedy Central. Now I feel old.

I'm impressed. This forum handles this topic better than most. I've seen bannings and thread closings galore on other sites.

I've probably mentioned my beliefs on the matter too frequently in recent weeks. I just wish the believers in my family would be similarly classy and keep the matter to themselves. I never summon the topic but when they try to dismiss my view and imply that I'll be punished in the afterlife for my lack of belief, I'm not going to shut up.

Speaking of bannings, I guess afterlife does exist on this forum. Today I opened a private message from an unfamiliar source. When I opened it, that guy had already been banned.

Playing sick, watching UM at lunch time, kids in the hall after that and by the time Who's Line came on school was out.

Everyone's entitled to their own opinion- you believe in the afterlife that's perfectly fine and if you don't believe in the afterlife that's perfectly fine too.

Me personally, I believe, but that's just me.

Weird. Someone just joined today, seems to have posted on this board only a few times on the ghost thread, said nothing wrong that I can see, but is already marked as banned! The member is not a guy unless lying, as she identifies herself as pregnant!* Unsolved Mystery indeed!

*The due date is April 2, but, ya know, could be April 1! Might name the kid Brian Williams, or Briana!

I think Awsi is referring to a person that sent a bunch of obviously spammy PM's to members. I got a similar message to Awsi's, but as soon as I saw the link, I opted not to open it as I assumed it was probably spam.

I'm not sure who you're referring to, Cori, but I'm going to start investigating. Love me an unsolved mystery... :)

No, I don't believe in the afterlife.

I agree. This forum is quite possibly one of, if not the, most respectful I've ever been to. That's probably the reason it's still going strong so long after UM's original run.

I also agree with you on the family issue. I was out to dinner with my in-laws recently and my wife's grandmother asked if we are going to get our 3-month old son baptized. We answered no. This led to a short and polite conversation about faith and churches; however, I feel it probably stayed short and polite only because I held my tongue about my own personal ideas on faith. I'm of the live and let live mindset when it comes to personal ideas on faith. Unfortunately, to be able to do that, I've often have to keep my own ideas under wraps in many social situations when the topic comes up.

Everyone has eternal life...be it in Heaven for those who are saved through Jesus Christ or in Hell for those who do not choose to accept Christ. But I hardly call this an"afterlife".

So kind of you. And so familiar from that side of the aisle.

I always wanted to like Christopher Hitchins on the political talk show circuit. He certainly had an impressive vocabulary, turn of the phrase, writing skills and debate skills. But I lost some respect for him based on the argument he chose for his final years, including when he knew he had a terminal condition and would not be around too much longer. Christopher Hitchins argued the No on this debate, and related ones. Give me a break. Talk about the easy way out, so to speak. You basically can't lose because the opposition has zero ammo other than fluff. A mind the caliber of Christopher Hitchins should have left an impression on a more challenging stage and topic.

I agree this is a strange thread, although I always find it entertaining when random wrestling references pop up on here.

To the question.

No I don't in the slightest.
