We know that Edith and Mike were friends with Louise and Lionel but did we ever see them actually go to the Jeffersons house next door to visit them? Everytime we saw Edith and Mike around Louise and Lionel is when the Jeffersons came to the Bunkers house. So if Edith and Mike never went to visit the Jeffersons when they lived right next door, why would they have suddenly traveled all the way to Manhattan to visit the Jeffersons at their high rise apt?

So it seems like they only talked to each other out of convenience since they were so close.

BTW: The only time we see Edith at the Jeffersons apt is when they were leaving and that doesn't count

I could of sworn they went to the Jefferson's high rise apartment for a party....... You might be right when they were living right next door. they didn't come over for a visit or come in to borrow something.

Just thought about it they did come for the Jeffersons for Lionel's engagement but that was it in the whole 4 seasons they lived next door to each other

I'm sure it had more to do with being too cheap to build a new set and the complications of having more than one set with a live audience. Most sitcoms shot with a live audience spend 95% of their time on the main set.

I just think Edith could have been in Louise kitchen just once instead of Louise always being at the Bunkers house. I didn't expect to see Archie over the Jeffersons because he and George were not friends
