This is a long shot, but as a child I remember watching what I believe was an episode of the Dick Van Dyke Show (or possibly The New Dick Van Dyke Show) which featured a segment involving garlic scrambled eggs. During the scene in question someone used a garlic press to add garlic to the eggs before scrambling them. As a result of seeing this I've been making scrambled eggs that way ever since!

No, this wasn't a cooking show; it was a sitcom that I'm certain was the Dick Van Dyke Show. Anyone happen to know what episode this was?

I can't believe this! When I said my question was a long shot I figured the odds were fair to nil anyone would have the answer. Thanks so much, Alan Brady's Hair, for solving this one; and so quickly, too. I've watched the Hulu episode and it's definitely the one I recall from my childhood. It even included a second garlic press bit about 19 minutes in when Rob asks Laura if his orange juice had been run through a garlic press!

So at last the mystery has been solved over a half-century later — the original source of my lifelong passion for garlic eggs! In honor of this I think I'll have garlic eggs for breakfast tomorrow morning while re-watching the episode on Hulu!

Thanks again.

Garlic scrambled eggs sounds interesting. My big thing is to grate some zuchinni in the eggs with some Parmesean cheese. For my taste buds: heavenly. I think adding a little garlic to this would work nicely and will try it next time.

If I recall correctly Ritchie had learned the trick of making scrambled eggs with a garlic press at school and then showed it to his Dad the next morning at breakfast.
