That policeman had an Irish accent. Like in all the old movies of the 30's and 40's the cops were Irish. Jesse Kirkpatrick played the cop but it was just a fake accent. This actor was on LITB twice and was indeed an Englishman.

Yeah, I watched it last night, and said I wasn't sure, and it came on today, and I thought it sounded more Irish.
