On this day in 1959 a plane crash tragically ended the lives and singing careers of Buddy Holly, J.P. "The Big Bopper" Richardson, and Ritchie Valens. "So I said Bye bye Miss American Pie..."

Wonder what they'd be like today if they hadn't died? Buddy Holly was pretty prolific in his short music career, but I bet he would have been a bigger star had he lived.
