View Full Version : music in Leave it to Beaver
mrbreezeet1 02-02-2015, 04:46 PM music in leave it to beaver,
sometimes it would sound like oh where oh were has my little dog gone,
and if they were playing baseball, it was take me out to the ball game,
and then that one, but I don't know the name, but it was when there was trouble.
But they would change it a little.
Scrabjan1 02-02-2015, 05:57 PM I used to like when they would play incidental music during a scene that was perfect. Like playing the French anthem when June opens her Eiffel Tower blouse or when they played Taps for Old Nick the horse like his days were done. They had great music on the show some was very subtle.
mrbreezeet1 02-03-2015, 03:47 PM OK, Chopin - Funeral March was the one l was thinking about when there was trouble.
This is a spooky sounding version.

Scrabjan1 02-05-2015, 09:00 AM What we used to call John Brown's Body?" Can you think of a scene where you hear it? Maybe when Beaver has to take his medicine from Ward?

you mean the one I posted about?
The Chopin - Funeral March?
Scrabjan1 02-05-2015, 08:26 PM Yes. Every time I heard Chopin's March I would hear John Brown's Body lies a moldering in the grave. However when I look up those words they are sung to Battle Hymn of the Republic. So now I'm confused. Not the first time.

yeah, lol thats what I found when l looked up ohn Brown's Body.
I know they played the Chopin's March variation when something happened in the classroom.
It was with "miss landers"
I can't remember the episode right off.
I will have to wait till I see it and write it down.
Scrabjan1 02-06-2015, 08:24 AM I think I remember. In Beaver Plays Hooky when Ward makes him go see Miss Landers after skipping school they play that music as he walks into the room.

Yeah, I think that was one time.
I know they played it in more than one episode.

Yeah, I just checked on Netflix,
lt's definitely played in beaver plays Hooky.
I still have to see when I come across it again, and write it down.
They used to sing it in high school, about football games, as "beware (insert rival school district here) the worst is yet to come"...................LOL
mrbreezeet1 02-13-2015, 06:14 PM OK, I saw beaver and poncho, and when the lady comes to the door the 2nd time to get her dog, poncho, after Beaver had taken it to school, they play Chopin - Funeral March.
That was also when June says "she had Mrs. Rayburn" when she was a child.
Meanwhile, they always said June went to boarding school.
I think the lady picking up the dog was the same lady that came with aunt Martha in "The visiting aunts".
I think it was "Clara" on Andy of Mayberry.
Then they played the Chopin - Funeral March again, in the state vrs. beaver, when the Judge called Wally and Beaver up to the stand for the 2nd time.
mrbreezeet1 02-13-2015, 06:31 PM No, actually Maudie Prickett, (hazel) was the woman in beaver and Pancho.
and I guess Hope Summers was Clara in Andy of mayberry.
mrbreezeet1 02-14-2015, 12:12 AM and they played the Chopin - Funeral March again, in season 1, in The Broken Window, when the boys were walking into the garage to look and see what had broke.
Scrabjan1 02-16-2015, 04:17 PM Aunt Martha's traveling companion, Mrs. Hathaway, was played by Irene Tedrow who was Mrs. Elkins on Dennis The Menace.
mrbreezeet1 02-16-2015, 05:24 PM I tried watching Dennis The Menace on netflicks, I really didn't like it.
Scrabjan1 05-16-2015, 02:46 PM I liked Jay North a lot. He was very bright and loved the first Mr. Wilson, Joseph Kearns.

I like Dennis the Menace, especially when Jay North was younger. He was a great, expressive little child actor and really brought the comic strip character to life. No, the show wasn't the same caliber as Leave It to Beaver, and didn't have the depth and realism. But it wasn't meant to. It was just meant to be fun, and it was.
