Supposedly Garfield's Dr's were as much to blame for his death. He lingered for 11 weeks after being shot and it's been said that he might have survived had his Dr's not probed around inside the wound area with dirty hands and unsterilized utensils. Garfield's biographer stated that medical malpractice wasn't to blame but who knows for sure?
