Lately I have noticed that the normally socially-polite mood of the forum has changed. I never participate in it but I have noticed an abundance of name-calling when some members see opposing, non-threatening opinions about subjects that are near and dear to their heart. I am against flaming(the act of posting inflammatory statements just to rile people up and get them mad) but I do believe in a difference of an opinion without the blatant, threatening name-calling as a response to an opinion. This is overall a very fun website, we should keep it that way. The next time you see someone post an opinion that makes you totally blow your top; stop. think and choose to post a response that isn't personally attacking the poster.

Which Forums have you seen this on?
It seems to be the latest trend on ALL forums. . .and I have been bombarded with insults myself occasionally on THIS ONE when my opinion doesn't jibe well with 2 or 3 members here in particular.

please show me a single instance where someone leveled a personal attack or insult at you.
just because someone disagrees with your opinion that does not qualify it as a personal attack.
however, if you make judgmental, prejudicial, derogatory comments about another group of people, then that indeed IS a personal attack, and is specifically addressed in the site rules here on the board.
You are free to believe whatever you want, but when you make comments aimed at others maybe you should put a little more consideration into the PEOPLE that you are talking about, and not the opinion you are judging them with.

I am NOT trying to "stir the pot, but MOST options run contrary to one group or another and may contain either judgmental or derogatory statements about that group in general. While racism and anti-religious statements are justifiably forboden, if one does NOT use slurs or other malicious slang when addressing said group, the question remains why would there be a problem if one voices their personal dislike of said groups lifestyle?
