Wasn't it voiced by Alice Ghostly? Marvo301 01-21-2015, 03:09 PM I prefer Carol Bruce as Mama Carlson. treky 01-22-2015, 02:52 AM I cant really distinguish between the two, all I remember is the talking oil painting. Wasn't it voiced by Alice Ghostly? what talking oil painting? I'm talking about Arthur Carlsons mother on WKRP IN CINCINATTI. Alice Ghostly never played her. gogxmagog 01-22-2015, 10:52 AM I seem to remember a scene where big guy mistakes mama carlson's voice coming out of a big oil painting portrait, the kind rich white conservative people like to own. It was a funeral? The reason why I think it was Alice ghostly who voiced this characterization, in this particular episode is, because; more interesting than the real version. End of story! treky 01-22-2015, 08:42 PM I seem to remember a scene where big guy mistakes mama carlson's voice coming out of a big oil painting portrait, the kind rich white conservative people like to own. I don't remember ever seeing a scene like that. gopyle 07-11-2015, 11:18 PM Mrs. Carlson as played by Carol Bruce was scary. I don't remember the other one. I'm glad the character made only occasional appearances. oldschool59 01-10-2019, 11:17 AM who did you like better in the role, Carol Bruce or Sylvia Sidney? I loved Carol Bruce in the Role of Mama Carlson. She brought an air of sophistication to the role. An old money feel. She was a very shrewd business woman with a perfect tax deduction, WKRP. If not for her son Arthur she would have either changed the format to one that was profitable, or sold the station regardless. Dr Fever was able to see through her and called her on it. This was not the first time she was called out. Andy found a way to get much needed capital from her for station upgrades and such. The writers on the show did an excellent job developing Mama Carlson, and Carol Bruce was the perfect foil for the children at WKRP. OH Nuts! 01-10-2019, 12:14 PM Carol Bruce hands down. She MADE the character. I think Mama Carlson would definitely make my top favorite characters of all time list. She could be ruthless with ba**s of steel, but the last ep really showed she did have a soft spot. And it WAS A HOOT watching Fever get the better of her. treky 01-11-2019, 01:55 AM Carol Bruce hands down. She MADE the character. Carol Bruce could've been a regular part of the cast, IMO. But when Mrs. Carlson was on the show, she pretty much was THE focal point is the episode. That probably wouldn't be possible if she was on the show every week. |
