Hi y'all, I've been an avid FOL fan ever since I was little, and I'm new to these boards. A little about my history with the girls from Eastland...*feelin' all warm and fuzzy*
I'm 23 (be 24 in April), and I vividly remember watchin' reruns of the 1st season at my grandparents' house. My dad's parents had a nice small house near us in the country, and one of those big ol' dinosaur TVs that sat on the floor with the silver dial you switched over that made the loud "ka-chunk"s when you turned it.
ANYway...lol, I loved Cindy. :) She was my favorite of the "axed Facts". I remember first seein' "Running", and (of course) bein' on her side the whole time, and I was just mesmerized when she and Sue Ann actually got in a fight! I so wanted Cindy to pulvarize her, lol. Not cause I hate Sue Ann, just that it was one of very few episodes that featured Cindy, and of course I had to stand by my fave. ;)
"Flash Flood" was another big fave---I love rain and thunderstorms, even severe (I draw the line at tornadoes, lol), so that really rocked my boat. And Cindy even got to wear a green raincoat, my favorite color. :D
And then there was "Dope". God, I couldn't believe what I was seein'... These "innocent" girls, actually encountering drugs? :eek2: My little boy mind couldn't fathom such a monumental televsion moment---I felt like I was privileged to see something I "shouldn't", as no one came in and changed the channel or anything. Man, what a way to shock a young boy beyond belief.
And there were the cafeteria years...aaaahhh, the cafeteria years. :eyes: Those are my most favorite, largely cause of my childhood memories of watchin' 'em weekdays at about 11 or 1 or so while I stayed over at Gran and Pop's while my daddy farmed and mommy worked at Ft. Knox. And poor Sis was at "school", lol. Tootie was my favorite as a kid (we have some common characteristics), but nowadays it's Blair. That's funny, cause most of the time favorites of mine from childhood stay the same. Oh, well. I still love Tootie and all (gotta love the gang!), it's just that Blair's my big fave now.
Then of course I still watched it when the show got older and I saw it on weeknights at home, but still...that just doesn't compare with my memories of sunny summer weekdays and my time with the girls of Eastland on Gran and Pop's old TV. :)
Please excuse me for ramblin', y'all. It's a lovely, lovely RAINY day today, *sigh*, and days like this invite me to reminisce about the good ol' days o' my childhood.
By the way, hope y'all don't mind my exclusion of "ing" on words. See, I grew up in the country in KY, and I stick to myself---I type like I talk. ;)
Long live "The Facts of Life"! :D
