(Ralph & Ed are at the Brooklyn Public Library.)
Ed: "Ralph, are there any TV Guides here?"
Ralph: "Certainly not. Here we are in a public library. Just think Norton that 50 plus years ago, us white guys wouldn't be allowed in places that said something like: 'For Blacks only.'"
Ed: "Those days are over thanks to Martin Luther King. He was a sweet kid."
Ralph: "Yes, he was. I would hate the fact if our landlord said: 'Only white people can live here.' I want blacks to live in our place if they want to."
Ed: "Me too Ralph. What Martin did was a great thing. Without him, the world would be worse."
Ralph: "I certainly agree. I would love to have him on my bus. I bet he is proud of Barack Obama."
Ed: "I bet he is."
Ralph: "Imagine what would happen if Martin Luther King was President. He would have been a great President unlike some of the other BUMS."
Ed: "Yes. We should read about him today. It would improve my intelligent mind."
(Ralph rolls his eyes.)
Ralph: "Oh, it would improve your mind Norton. Maybe you will become as smart as a fifth grader."
Ed: "Just think. Martin would be proud of me."
Ralph: "Well yes. Also, I am sure that Martin would love vacationing in Miami Beach."
(Audience cheers.)
Ed: "Hey, he would also love seeing the Jackie Gleason Show while down here."
(Ralph laughs.)
Ed: "I have to wonder if Martin didn't do what he did, would someone else?"
Ralph: "I don't know but let's be thankful that he did what he did."
(They both sing about M.L.K.)
(Jackie walks on stage. Crowd applauds.)
Jackie: "Thank you. GOOD NIGHT!"
(Crowd cheers.)
