Brand spanking new to this forum. Came here just to get help finding one ILL episode. It is one where the gang go to a diner and the waiter/waitress says "You name it we got it". As the gang gives their orders she keeps saying they don't have that - finally at the end Lucy says something like "I thought you said "You name it we got it". The final punch line is "You ain't named it yet".

Just recently someone lent us a DVD of season 4 that has the episode named "First Stop" thinking this was it. The diner scene is VERY similar but we were surprised that the dialogue was different than we clearly remember. We went to the library and checked out all the DVDs they had and I have searched the internet forever and can't seem to find mention of it.

Was there an "alternate" version of this scene, or was a similar scene used again?

Obviously very unimportant question in the grand scheme of things - just trying to confirm we aren't going totally nuts.

Thanks for your help if anyone knows!

I don't know an ILL episode with a scene just like you're describing. That has the sound more of a The Lucy Show scene IMO, but I can't identify one from that series, which I don't remember as well, either.

Is there any chance you're conflating scenes from two different shows? The basic theme you're describing fits the "First Stop" episode of I Love Lucy, but the particulars, like those lines of dialogue, don't match that episode, or any other I Love Lucy, Lucy Show or Here's Lucy episode. Perhaps you're remembering the premise of this episode, but remembering some of the lines from another non-Lucy show. I can tell you, as someone who's seen all the episodes of all the series a zillion times, those lines are not from a Lucy episode. In fact, they originate in burlesque comedy and have been used in stage shows like Sugar Babies. See the following:

Some simple googling by putting those words in quotes revealed that this was not from I Love Lucy but from Jack Benny:

Older than that; it dates back to old burlesque shows. See my comment above.
