POSSIBLE SPOILER This may not be a great review, but it does cone from the heart. Also this review reflects my opinions and may not be the opinions of others.

I didn't see this movie in the theater, because I am just not that much into fairy tales. I rented this on DVD, against my feelings about it based on the trailer, which really doesn't do this movie justice.

PLEASE DO NOT rely on the trailer on a bases for judging this movie. This is one of those movies that has to be seen in its entirety to truly be appreciated.

I thought it was going to be a good vs evil type of fair tale with black and white characters. I was TOTALLY wrong and TOTALLY amazed. This is a story about a powerful creature (Maleficent/ Angelina Jolie) who is betrayed by a man she gave her whole heart to and was robbed of not only her heart, but something else important by that man only for greed. Later, Maleficent uses her power to curse the most beloved one in this mans life only to have the curse return to haunt her in a very unexpected way. However, this story reveals the true meaning of love and forgiveness of a people that is flawed and broken at times. A love and forgiveness that it totally not what you would expect. This movie does have a few twists in it.

I found this movie very heart warming and uplifting. Some of the CGI is a little overboard at times, but has a perfect blend of story and characters to make up for it.

I was ready to remove and return this DVD only 15% watched because I thought that my 1st impression about it was right on the money. But something told me to give it a chance and I did. I was so pleasantly surprised. Elle Fanning is so very good as Aurora (Sleeping Beauty) and Angelina Jolie is so Amazing! I just wish I had seen this in the theaters when I had the chance.
