ok...there's been some(OK, alot) of info messed up on my page cuz i thought there was only one kind of Cheers videos. well, I found out there's AT least 3 kinds:
1) Official "Paramount" Home Videos for the US:
the only kind I though existed. there are 11 volumes, w/ 2 episodes on each tape (except for the first one, which only has the pilot). The fronts and sides of the boxes have a wooden-look. On the top are the words "Contains 2 Episodes" or "The Premiere Episode" in white, the below is the Cheers logo. Below that is ONE picture, from one of the episodes on the tape. Then below that is the Volume #, and the episode(s) on the tape in white. The back is yellow with descriptions of the episode(s) on the tape and a picture. The basic thing to look for is the wooden-looking "cover" on the front of the box.
2) Columbia House Editions:
I'm not sure how many volumes there are, but I think they each have 3 episodes per tape. On the front is a press picture that covers the entire front, and simply a "Cheers" logo on the top. Looking from the front, the left side is red, with the episodes and "Cheers" logo. These were considered a "Special Edition" by Paramount before CH began selling them. The basic thing to look for is a picture NOT from an episode covering the ENTIRE front with a bright Cheers logo.
3) Official "Paramount" Home Videos for the UK:
These videos are in a clamshell case, where the other two are in video sleeves. I'm not sure how many volumes there are here, but theres AT LEAST 9. I think there's 3 episodes per tape, once again. There are 2 different general covers for these tapes. On the front, for at least the first 4, is a press picture from the FIRST episode, with "Where Everybody Knows Your Name" at the top in white, and the Cheers logo below that. Below the picture (which DOESN'T take up the entire front) is the volume #. On tapes for at least volumes 7,8,and 9 (the ones that i know of) are the same thing, but instead of the one picture, theres four little ones, and they're the same on all the tapes(not from the episodes on the particular tapes). For these tapes, there is a color border around the picture on the front, and it's different on each volume. While they are "listed" as "UK tapes," they can be found in the US.
The thing that messes my page (and me lol) up is that there's different themes on each edition of the tapes!! I have some pictures, and they'll be on my site soon. Hopefully I can get all this straightened out! lol
and...there may be more versions that i dont know about!
