View Full Version : CBS Sunday Morning Botched Donna Douglas Tribute
ILuvCarolBurnett 01-04-2015, 04:39 PM If you watch the show "CBS Sunday Morning" this morning, you will notice that in the tribute segment devoted to Donna Douglas, they made a huge error. They said she was a singing star and show pictures of 45 singles with the artist name Donna Douglas on them. Yes, there was a signing star in the 1960s named Donna Douglas, but NOT the same Donna Douglas who played Elly May.
They must have a bunch of idiots for researchers......

Marvo301 01-04-2015, 07:04 PM It's a shame that mistake was made but if there was ever anyone who would have been gracious about such a mistake it's Donna Douglas!
Coffeecup 01-07-2015, 02:49 PM Probably the researchers are all under age 40.
Marvo301 01-07-2015, 03:12 PM Probably the researchers are all under age 40.
Probably the same numbskulls who don't know who Paul McCartney is!!
Coffeecup 01-07-2015, 04:59 PM I asked someone I met who lived in Swampcott, Massachusetts, where did Walter Brennan live. They responded Who's Walter Brennan? I slowly realize ,not everyone knows, who I know. What really threw me was the woman was MY age.
stanwyckfan07 09-28-2015, 07:11 PM To be fair, Donna did release a few country singles and albums in the 1980's on small labels, I suspect they knew this and just copied an image of a single by the British Donna Douglas (whose records are apparently equally obscure) off the net. A lot of people would presume nobody else would have ever recorded with the rather famous name of Donna Douglas (I believe the British singer was a bit before TBH or maybe in it's early years before our Donna recorded). I'm glad at least CBS This Morning paid Donna a tribute anyway, I don't think any of the nightly news or major morning news shows acknowledged her death. I was happy to see the Emmys remembered her this past week.
ILuvCarolBurnett 12-19-2015, 11:18 AM That is called irresponsible journalism. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand which Donna Douglas is which. They should have announced a retraction and correction of the story, but alas, responsible journalism in this country is but a thing of the past.
stanwyckfan07 05-23-2016, 07:59 PM Was this the only national news coverage of Donna Douglas' death? I know she wasn't a superstar but she starred in one of the most legendary sitcoms and should have been at least mentioned on the entertainment news and morning talk shows if not the national nightly news. This was the only major tribute I've seen that Donna received. She should have gotten at least as much notice as Ann B. Davis did when she died a few months before Donna.
pkripper001 05-23-2016, 10:42 PM She never had any Hit Recordings.
The labels she was on was Miracle and also Oak.There might have been more.
She was crowned Miss Baton Rouge and Miss New Orleans in the
1950.The entire cast of the
show released a record album in the middle 1960s.
She is often thought to be the vocalist on the 1962 recording titled ''He's
So Near'' on the Arlen Records label.
As far as I know, the real Donna Douglas, only made two 45 rpm records, the other records were LP's. This 45 was released in
the early 1970's on the Oak Record label--'Never Ending Song of Love'
backed with 'You Make My Heart Wanna Sing.'' Douglas also recorded
a 45 for the miracle label (#1002) titled ''At the End of a Rainbow.''
The real Donna Douglas, we know and love, 45s are way more obscure then here UK counterpart.
Here is one of her LP's , HERE COME THE CRITTERS
Zoneboy 05-23-2016, 11:30 PM The above photos need to be resized, my computer keeps crashing while trying to load them.
pkripper001 05-24-2016, 06:21 AM Zoneboy, you or any other moderator, are welcome to resize any of my photos I post in any thread. I am running Windows XP service pack one, on a 2003 computer, and my computer loads the pictures just fine.Although, sometimes when I am posting on this website,I get logged out and when I click post it tells me to log in, and then I loose all my information I was about to post and I have to start over. This computer & its operating system are very obsolete.
These photos I posted, are not really that big,but this website seems to enlarge most photos bigger than then they should be,unless they are very small photos to begin with.Resized photos should be function built in to the program of the website,and/or where there is a size limit, which can be custom set by the owner of the website,so if a person attempts to load a photo to big,it will reject it.
Dr. Thong 05-24-2016, 04:23 PM The irony of CBS botching this is that The Beverly Hillbillies was one of CBS's top rated shows. It was still in the top 10 when it was cancelled.
