View Full Version : Flu Shot
Foggy 01-01-2015, 03:31 PM Do you get a flu shot?
839 adults and children have died from the flu, just in this past week (Dec 24-Dec31) nationwide. It would appear that the "flu shot" isn't working out to great this year. I know our hospital and clinics have been overwhelmed, with people with the flu (over 1000-but nobody has died)
The last time I got a flu shot was in 2008 and I got the flu. Even my doctor doesn't think I should get one and I'm a diabetic.

Bonniegirl 01-01-2015, 04:12 PM I don't, never have. I don't seem to get the flu very much, and if I do I just ride it out!

Sorry if you thought I was being nasty and cranky but your post to call attention to my edit makes no sense at all. Perhaps you were trying to be funny and if that's the case you're doing a very poor job of it.

I was not "calling attention" to anything... YOU are the one who brought that UP..... and Yes, I've been called historical before... but I had no intention of being funny here!!! But since your a comedy critic, I'll try harder next time.....
dakert 01-03-2015, 11:52 PM I got a flu shot. Like Chicken soup, I figure it cant hurt but it might help.
treky 01-04-2015, 12:58 AM I heard that a flu shot is only 64% effective, also that there's 2 kinds-high dose and low dose.
Still; I think it's stupid to not get one.

How are you feeling Treky? Is your cold better?
I'm not one who gets flu shots. I believe in the old drink your juice, early to bed , early to rise, eat well , get fresh air and exercise and you will be well ! Before I get shots for things . I'm old school!!! ;)
treky 01-04-2015, 02:10 AM thanx for asking, my cold's starting to get better.
Torgo 01-04-2015, 10:35 AM Never gotten a flu shot, haven't had the flu in decades.
Tubehead 01-04-2015, 02:06 PM I got mine at mine doctors right before Christmas.
Bonniegirl 01-04-2015, 02:15 PM Never gotten a flu shot, haven't had the flu in decades.
Me either, never got a flu shot, hardly ever had the flu. Maybe because we like horror movies so much we are immune! :D If we can watch that gory, scary stuff a flu can't get us down! ;)
OH Nuts! 01-04-2015, 02:47 PM I always get one. It's a good preventative measure and I'm getting older now (late 50s) so I just go for it.
HuntingtonM15 01-04-2015, 02:50 PM I've never gotten one. They were supposed to give me one when I was in the hospital with pneumonia last February, but they never ended up doing it. I did get a pneumonia shot, though.
robyrob 01-04-2015, 03:00 PM i've gotten the flu shot every year for the past 4 or 5 years, this year was the first time it hasn't been effective - I got the flu twice this fall after getting the shot.
Penny Lane 01-04-2015, 03:14 PM My sister, who is a nurse, says that the flu shot is for Respiratory Flu. That's why it is encouraged for young children and senior citizens to get it. There are so many strains of intestinal flu that one flu shot would not cover everything.
The last flu shot that I got was for the infamous Swine Flu back in the 70's. I have been really fortunate that I have only gotten the flu a very few times since then. Good luck and Good health this winter everybody!
JamesG 01-04-2015, 07:19 PM I've never had the flu shot nor the flu.
ponytail 01-07-2015, 06:01 AM I haven't gotten a flu shot in years. I am now just getting over the stomach flu which I haven't had in about 12 years. Not fun. Still not feeling up to par, but I have to go to work.
veggie-tari-jenn 01-07-2015, 06:54 AM Nope....mostly because I am allergic to everything and didnt want to take a chance....and because I dont think they work.....I have friends who got them and got the worst flu of their lives a few days after.....not worth it to me.....
Dude111 01-07-2015, 02:37 PM No way.Same here!!!
Vaccines can compromise your immune system and leave you open to auto-immune diseases,etc...... (I am suffereing with one)
treky 01-08-2015, 05:44 AM I just heard on the news that I was wrong-the flu shot's only effective 30% of the time; not 60% but despite that they still strongly recommend getting one.
Dude111 01-09-2015, 09:15 AM Sure.....They wanna make sure you get the annual dose of poision!!
We get them free from my work so I always get one. I was sick over the holidays but it was a cold and not the flu.
treky 01-09-2015, 07:27 PM
but seriously-I also think it's a good idea.Sure.....They wanna make sure you get the annual dose of poision!!
Dude111 01-09-2015, 10:06 PM Its a good idea to fill your immune system with garbage??
